Equipment for prepping paint

Howdy all,


Next week im going to be starting my car for paint prep and was wondering what type of equipment I should use.

Is a small orbital hand sander good or should i use something else.

I know about the grits of sand paper that im going to need but don't know what other stuff I should have at hand for this.

Any advise that is helpful is appreciated

Though I realize you posted this quite a while ago, I'd suggest getting a DA (dual action) sander as well as an in-line sander. The DA is very useful for getting filler roughed in prior to using a hand sanding board. The in-line sander is great for larger body panels and what not. Another good thing to note is to use a criss-cross pattern when using the sanding board (just in case you didn't know that). Good luck man.

Are you going to do the paintjob yourself? I wouldn't recommend that since you don't have much experience and it's very easy to screw up...If you take it to the bodyshop....MAKE SURE they are TAKING ALL THE SEALS OFF!!! And not just tape them...Cause that's what they usually do...and this is the reason why paint starts peeling off so soon.
