Default Body Kit vs. '99 conversion

Hey guys!

Well, I'm looking at getting a 92 GTO (ExExGuy's), and the paint is faded, so it's going to need a repaint. I plan on doing something to the bodywork to spiff it up a bit, and I figure now would be the time, so I don't have to re-repaint it later. Unfortunately, the car is on the coast right now, so I won't be able to do any of the work myself before I pick it up.

The '99 conversion seems to be a popular (and beautiful) route to take, but it's also pretty pricey. It looks like its going to be around 2 grand, PLUS the hood, possibly a spoiler, shipping and installation. I've looked around e-bay a bit, and there seems to be some decent 1st gen body kits for less than a grand (shipped).

So, my questions would be;
a) What would you recommend?
b) Has anyone seen any 1st gen body kits that can compete with the '99 conversion?
c) Any hoods, other than stock, that you would suggest?
d) What about spoilers? Any suggestions?
e) Anything else I should change while I'm at it?

I'm really excited to upgrade to a TT, and to be able to mod the body right away is just awesome, but before I start spending rediculous amounts of money, I'd love to hear from those in the know.

Thanks guys!

-Devan

also as far as body kits on e-bay go... You get what you pay for. Most of the kits on there are real econimically made with thin fiberglass. The bumper I have for sale is hand made and is a quality piece. I just don't need it anymore as i'm planning on getting rid of my 92 VR-4

lots of good options out there... there's a 99 bumper for 91-93 so you can run it w/o swapping everything out.

For the rear end; I really like the '99 rear garnish and '99 combat wing on the first gens.

(Look at Scotty's car (GTO Assassin) for a great example of the '99 wing on a first generation GTO.)
