No difference. Been there done that. I've has both SOHC and DOHC trannies in my car. Only thing to watch out for is the 91-92 are different from the 93-99 ones - the diameter of the haldshaft where it goes into the gearbox is smaller on the 91-92. But get the shafts with the trans and all is good.

Speaking from experience: Tranny #7 in the car now...

um all sohc have smaller half shafts man i got a 93 sohc trans and it didnt fit so and i didnt have any money for shafts and what not so i ended up breaking both of the trans open and putting the diff with the larger holes in the one and it was a bitch i wouldnt suggest doing it so

Ok.. From everything ive seen, Eric is right on the money. But OP, why are you posting asking a question, and then when he answers, saying he's WRONG? if you apparently 'knew' the answer, why post in the first place?

7 trannies eric? holy shit..

cuz man i just went threw having to split both trans to switch diffs out because the 1993 sohc trans had a smaller diff input and i posted it so if someone is wondering the same thing they dont have to go threw all the bs i went threw and on top of that after putting it all in we couldnt find anything wrong with it we get it all in fist dont work like it will work if i down shit to 2nd and and before the R's are all the way down push it into fist then it will go into fist and work but it wont go into first at a stop or nicely its pretty lame

It wasn't from a 93 then. ALL NA MTX TRANS ARE THE SAME FOR COREESPONDING YEARS

My car is a 94 SOHC. I have had a 94 DOHC trans in my car, a 93 SOHC diff with my trans parts, a LSD which is made for :gasp: ALL 93+ 3s FWD trans in my car, and currently a 95 DOHC trans all using my stock SOHC axles.

You may have been told it was from a 93 and lied to, or it may have been put in a 93 from a 91 or 92 at a previous time but SOHC AND DOHC HAVE THE SAME MTX TRANS. 91-92 are all the smaller diffs, 93+ are ALL the larger diffs.

Stop spreading misinformation.
