Default ECS problem

HI,
I just purchased a 92 Stealth RT and I have a problem. When I push the ECS button nothing happens. The tour or sport lights do not come on in the dash. I took out the ECS computer and checked it but I didn't see any leaking capasitors. Any other suggestions on what the problem could be and how to fix it. Thanks so much.

I also checked the top of the struts in the front and all of the wires look good. Is there a fuse that could be bad or someting since the lights down come on in the dash at all?

Did it just happened or has it been like this for a while?

For all you know the lights in the dash could of burned out. Try this: find somewhere quiet and push the ECS button to see if you can hear it change from sport to tour.
I know mine work (i can hear it) but i am just to lazy to change the burned out bulb (the sport light still works ).They have them at checker auto parts.

More than likely the ECS lights came on and someone just removed the bulb from the dash to keep from getting reminded there was something wrong...(it usually defaults to sport) and sold it without replacing the bulb. I've heard people say remove the bulb way too many times here. Instead of just fixing what the real problem was to start with.

I am not sure, I bought the car with it like that. Is there an easy way to tell if the bulb had been removed?

haha, this may sound dumb, but do you have to have the car started for the ECS to work, or just have the car turned on?

Just pull the bezel its easy. One thing I found out is if you do this the risk of the SRS light to come on is possible. This happens when changing the gauges or anything that has to do with taking this piece off. Don't worry nothing is wrong its just something that happens.
What worked for me is that i kept my door closed when i took it out and then steped out of the car. Unfortunatly i was in a hurry and opened my door while i was installing it (back and forth) and then i turned on. Just take the lightbulb out and its gone. Also for the 1st gen turning the key 5-10 times does the trick....sometimes

Just turn the key enough to get the radio going. Then lisen for it.

... I have only been married for 1.5 years so my ears still work fine. I figure once I have a kid the hearing loss will begin.
