I have a 92 18 spline tranny and i'm converting it to fwd via welding the vcu. So I'd rather trade it for a AWD guys bad vcu and help him out and make a buck for myself. What VCU's will fit into MY tranny to weld, and what trannies will MY VCU fit into so i can trade it to someone.

I read most this thread but i just got confused...heh.

You would be better off just swapping between any 18 spline transmission if some of this is confusing. Otherwise you'll end up swapping other guts such as the sun gear and pinion shaft, as stated above. I'll also tell you that it's a little hard to find someone to swap with, i tried for several weeks. Just weld the planetary gears together/to the carrier as bret had said, I did this with the transmission i just put in my car vs. welding the vcu, thought i'd give it a try

Just to clearify how bad I am beating the crap out of my car check out the RWD VR4 thread for the newly post NOPI burnout video. I started that burn out in 2nd gear with a 7 K clutch dump.... Deffinatly NOT the first time I have done a 2nd gear 7K clutch dump.

OK. So hopefully none of you guys are welding up good VCU's anymore . So given that, does anyone have a good working VCU that they'd want to trade for one that's not plus a little cash?
