I have a 94 SL, with an AT. I just had the engine out of the car. after installing the engine, I added a quart of ATF fluid to the tran because it had leaked some out when I took out the engine. For the first 20 miles I had no issues, but now, my stall rpm is about 1200 and I have a very tough time getting the car moving or driving below 5mph, because the tran will not disengage. If the selecter is in D it will be reluctant to downshift when coasting (during acceleration its fine).
Is my torque convert destroyed? also, did I add the wrong fluid? and could that have caused this issue in 20 miles? 1 quart of ATF? Thanks, Derek |

more info: I origionally added the correct trans fluid, so i'm ruling out that (per the manual).
Per what i've been reading i think the problem is my TCC solenoid. I'm going to drop the pan tomorrow and see if that thing is working. thoughts? Derek |

As of now, I had a transmission mechanic look at it and he thought the solonoids needed to be replaced. So that was done but the car has the exact same problem.
When it sits for a while it will take about 30seconds of being in gear to build enough pressure to kill the engine. The trans cooler is not plogged. any thoughts? anyone have a used Tranny near MN? Derek |

Have you tried checking the TCU?

What should I look for on the TCU?
I have the car currently at a transmission mechanic who doesnt know what to make of the situation. He had it hooked up to an auto scanner and is also the one who replaced the solenoids. So far, everything checks out ok electrically. Also, I have used jumper wires to manually actuate the solenoid valves but the car acts no different. Thoughts? Derek |
