Hey guys, I live in Missouri and when I recently took my car to get the state required inspection it failed due to a bad wheel bearing on the front drivers side. From what I can find it looks like I need a press to do this myself? After already replacing the clutch master cylinder, I'd just like to get it legally rolling
Does anyone out there have any suggestions on how to do this at home without paying a local shop well over $300? I searched the forums and didn't find anything that answered this questions, sooo, I figured I'd ask. |

hey bro i just did mine if you have a torque ranch with all the right sockets, hammer, you should be fine. take off the break claiper the rotor than unscrew the 2 little bolts. Once you get done all of that unscrew the lower ball joint bolt unscrew the top 2 bolts where the shocks are being held. speed speed sensor, and on the left or the right unscrew the little bolt that looks like it has cutouts in it take of the whole piece take a wood piece and blace it on the end of the axccel and bang it untill it comes off now this is where you get to decide what you want to do either bang the the bearing out yourself which is what i did. And if you do please save yourself some time take that whole piece that you took of to a shop get them to press the bearing in for you it only cost me 20dollars trust me way easier and safer.
Sorry if this is a bit confusing anyone alse if i forgot anything please correct me Thanks Alex |

Cool, those sound like pretty straitforward instructions....if anyone notices anything missing in this list, please let me know, I'll be tackling this over the weekend I hope - assuming I can find a wheel bearing somewhere locally, or on here, but, I haven't looked on here yet....
Thanks! |

OK, bear with me, I'm searching for the bearing I need. All I know for sure is the wheel bearing is bad, but, it looks like there is an inner and outer bearing available??? So, first of all, is this the case, and if so, what the frig bearing am I supposed to be looking for?
And, looks like I can choose from Beck Arnley or OEQ, either of these preferable to the other? Thanks in advance...this is a great forum - and everyone has been a huge help....I've checked out a couple other forums recently and none of them compare.... its only one bearing it costs like 69 dollars. How fast do you need it ?
If you have any speed shops aound go there because they will probably have one there in stock if not in than in their warehouse. |

Just did mine as well. The bearing itself is a little less than 50 bucks at advance auto but you almost have to buy new seals for it as well, those were about 10 bucks a pop, You have to rip the old ones out anyway to get the bearing out . Had it in stock too. I have a press tho, but 20 bucks is nothing to have a shop press it for you. Easy job tho.
