Default Transmission woes...

I swapped a 25 spline transmission and transfer case into my 91 TT, which had with 18 spline to begin with, and I am having some troubles.

When I drive straight forward or back, everything is fine. But when I turn any amount in any direction, the car stutters and binds. It feels like something is binding up.
I dropped the transmission and the front diff. is in great shape. No missing teeth, no chunks taken out, spins fine, etc.
Prior to this I thought it may be a bad axle (the boot on the pass. side was torn and the car had been sitting for a few months) so I replaced it, but that did not solve the problem. I checked the drivers side axle and mid-shaft and both spin freely and seem to be fine.

Any ideas what might be wrong? Cars been down for about 6 months :\

if your cv's are fine and your confident with your work. it might be a cracked diff. housing. have you had the 25 spline trans apart?

Just took it all apart today.
VCU housing is cracked and the planetary gear assembly is in several chunks. Pics tonight.
