Ok, so I might be buying a car with a locked up TC. Will they replace that under the recall? If it has damaged the transmission will that be covered also? How would I know if the clutch was also damaged?

If the car has a locked up or damaged TC you will know. The car wont drive or it will make a strange noise like gears grinding. If it's damaged the tranny you would probably be able to tell to. if you check the tranny oil and it's black then the viscous coupling is gone.

Yea, well I know the TC is locked up but I was wondering if they would cover the tranny under the recall if it's damaged? It's probably gone also.

Ya, It's hard to say. It should be. I would call and ask about that. The reason my tranny broke was because I was going 210Km/h when the TC locked up.

So it might be ok. That's cool, ironically though the guy I'm trying to buy the car from won't reply to any of my messages

I put a performance clutch on my car (RPS Streetmax 6 puck disk -- 680 ft lb torque rating) and my transfer case is busted all to hell, and it's being fixed. My dad called Mitsubishi today and they told him that they don't think I would qualify for a recall on the transfer case because I put the performance clutch in my car....what do you think?

I think that's crap because they would have to do the recall even if it wasn't modified. If they refuse I would call the NHTSA. It's a safety risk and the problem would need to be fixed even if you didn't have a new clutch.

say that i didn't have the money to get my car fixed to begin with so no refund, but the tc locked and blew the transmission to hell is that something they will take care of?
and is there any questions of what you were doing to do this or do they just assume responcability, and any time limit? oh and i guess you don't haft to be the original owner?

They should fix it no matter what because it's caused by a defective part. THere is no time limit on any recall. You don't have to be the original owner and they should fix the tranny to but you might have to fight with them to do it. The NHTSA is the Nationl Highway Transport Safety Association. I live in Canada and it's not our system but I should be able to find oyu the number..
