I have not read all the post but mitsu's policy is to replace the transmission
with a rebuilt one.

That is what they did with my 98 three years ago. THey are trying to get out of it. my new tranny with 7000 miles on it was replaced with a rebuilt which broke in 2 years and I did not race on it or abuse it.

anyways when I went to get the tranny repaired under warranty they refused. I had to go to a lawyer to get things resolved.

If you have any other questions about the tranny email me at mliberty@yahoo.com

My transfer case is leaking when I went to the dealership they told me that since they preformed the recall once already they'd have to charge me for the 2nd time. This was like 2 years ago and 14k ago but it should not have gone bad by now.

Keep putting pressure on them. As stated above, you may have to speak with an attorney. Makes no since, that if the recall was previously performed inclorrectly, they should have to fix it. I've had my t-case fixxed twice with in 2 yrs.

Ok my I just posted in the AWD section and it talks about my friends VR-4. Either the mechanic forgot to put Oil in the TC or it was leaking after a clutch install.

Im most likely going to take over payments cause he cannot afford it any longer.

If I buy the car from him and I take it in for the recall, will the dealership fix it for me. I belive my buddy said the previous owner took it in for the recall back in 2002. But he didn't specify if it was check'd or worked. on. I'll check on that latter tonight to know if it was worked on.

lol its probably leaking cuz of that clutch install. When you put the OS back into the transfercase, you probably pinched or ripped the seal on the tc.

Mine's leaking too probably cuz of that.
I'm 'spose to get mine fixed saturday, but im just not gonna tell mitsu I had a clutch installed .

Call your local Dealer Service Department and provide them the VIN and ask them to check what recalls have been performed on the car. If a recall has been performed then it will be in their records. If they have no record then ask to make an appointment to have the recalls completed.

Does this apply to JDM cars? This may be a lame question as all I have read so far is 3000GT's/Stealths/VR4's to get recall. But hey, I'll bloody try for a new case if I can. Nobody here in Oz can help me at Mitsubishi.....

Wow, I've seen this thread many times before.....but never took the time to read........untill today.

I'm presently in the Military stationed in The US Virgin Islands. I'm knee deep in a full restoration/rebuild of a 91 Vr4 that I purchased here from and estate(dead guy) auction. How do I go about this recall stuff. Can I just walk into the dealership with my TC in my hand? If any body can e-mail me the recall notice and any other supporting documents I would really apreciate it. These local guys are very difficult to deal with.
