Default transfer case oil seals replacement

Hi,

My transfer case and tranny are off the car for clutch replacement. To be on the safe side, I've already replaced tranny oil seals. Now I'd like to do the same for the transfer case. As far as I can see, it has only two seals: one where shaft from the tranny goes in, and, one where driveshaft connects. My question is about the first one. Can it be replaced from the outside? It appears to be sandwiched between transfer case and inner metal sleeve. Can I just pull it out, like driveshaft seal?

Thanks,
Sergey

Thanks man, but I already have all the other seals. I need just one seal and my question is whether it can be replaced from outside. Also, do you know what the washer is for?

Thanks,
Sergey

The washer is to make sure you get the seal in the housing to the proper depth. (for the seal you have questions about) And yes you can just pry it out and pop a new one in. Be careful not to scratch any of the sealing surfaces. And be sure to get it far enough in there that the dust lip is past the tapered part of the sleeve.

I tried to get various parts from my brother who works at Car Quest, and they can't get jack for parts for the AWD cars. I didn't try other places much yet.

That output shaft seal in the transmission has to be replaced from the INSIDE. You have to take the transmission apart to replace it. Or at least, thats the intended method of replacement.

if ur lookin to replace the side seal, I took the cover off, on the side, pulled the sleeve and bearing out and just hammered the old 1 out, put the new 1 in and put the sleeve back in and closed it up...took a half hour..
