He'll do the recall for you quickly saftey recalls are no joke and the dealership i work at we'll do the recall as many times as we have to EVEN if the recall is closed, just to cover our ass because we dont want to be held liable for any serious injury or death or expensive damages. if the service advisor is that big of an idiot and wants to save 30-60 dollars in parts to re-seal a transfer case then by all means GO OVER their head to the general manager (who is usually around quite often) or even the goddamn owner. i can gaurantee you that if you take it to the owner it'll get done no questions asked. |

i know this thread never dies but im currently getting the run around to get the recall done even though it has never been done on the car. Its a 92 vr4. I dont have the official recall notice because i bought the car when it came out so i believe it got sent to the previous owner. Had the mitsu dealer run the vin and they told me its never been done on the car. The car was bought Sep 8th 2003. The dealer said they cant do the work because i dont have all the service records on the car. Currently have a called mitsu corp office and have a case number. From the voice mail i have (was at work) they might not approve it because of the age of the car. Any advice would be helpful since everything i read here says they have to do it. Of and the t-case is shot already. didnt have to crap out as bad as others on the highway. Was leaving stop sign and poof. Thanks again

the age of the car- bullshit! it was for 1992 and on. i dealt with f***in mitsu corp this past january. APPARENTLY (i havent read thru all 72 pages so if this was already mentioned- i apologize)- the dealership has the chance to RE-SEAL the tcase, and if that re-seal fails- they will fix the c-ring. i got mine sealed back in feb. and its still good until now. i have a 1992 vr4 as well.

mitsu documents all of thier work on your car. if they already said it hasnt been done then they have to do it. other service records dont matter at all. you can always take it to another dealer, or make a stink to corporate.

ok. So corp says they wont approve the recall because i dont have documentation stating that the transfer case fluid was ever changed or had any added to it. They said they cant tell if it was "properly" taken care of. I told them i bought it used and there is NO WAY i can get that kind of paper work. The previous owner was a mechanic so he did his own work. The car is pretty much unable to be driven if it is not fixed. Anyone have advice or should i try taking it to another dealership?

i knew how ya ment it..still didnt like that idea. Ive checked the laws and it says if its a safety recall and your car is in the year's specified they have to do it regardless. They are being lazy because its going to cost them a decent amount of money because they'll have to replace it completely. I was driving it from a stop sign and it went poof!
