Of course, they are going to fight that and they are really in a position to fight hard.

I had the recall done in '02 @ 78000kms, where they "inspected and resealed" the TC. Now, @ 95000kms it's making a grinding noise, and has a slight leak. I called Dodge, where they told me that if it had been done once that's all they'll do. Having read a billion posts, I told him that it's supposed to a life long recall because of safety implications. He said,"that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard".
Do you guys have any suggestions on my next move? |

I often wonder why they give us a hard time about this. It's not like they're paying for the parts or labor. On other recalls and warranty work dealerships love the work. They get paid for it. Does anybody know? |

i ran into simular problems like you, but called the coporate offices of chrysler and notified them of my issue and how their neglagence was going to cause my car to fall apart on the freeway yada yada... Next thing i knew the guy on the line was harassing my local dealer and things were rolling. my only problem is that the dealer didnt want to do it after he found out i ratted on him, so i took my car to another one and they were glad to do it...3 times just be persistant and make it well known to them about how important you safety is. Tell them some stories that you have heard about the TC locking up. that one worked for me.

I guess i'm not as persuasive as many of the members of this board. I was told by Chrysler Canada that i have no additional recourse and that they performed the recall already. Looks like i'll be working overtime for the next few months.....

Has anyone ever resealed their transfer case themselves? I know the obvious ideal solution is to have the transfer case replaced under the recall, but it seems many people are having issues getting it done. I just changed out my transfer case fluid and put some Redline MTL/MT-90 50/50 mix in, and now its leaking. And it wasn't before, damn synthetics. It looks like its leaking between the mid section and the tail section.
I called my local dealership today and was told to bring it down to have it inspected. I asked him to run my VIN to check if it had been done but he said he was to busy and he also said that if it was done once they can't do it again. I know it was replaced under warranty along with the tranny many years ago, I have the receipts and the transfer case has the sight plug on the side, which I believe is the 93 transfer case and my car is a 92. On a side note, does this mean I have the 25 spline output shaft? I also just ran a CarFax and the recall was listed on it. So after the short conversation with the service guy, I am expecting problems getting this done and want to weigh all my options if necessary. So, does the transfer case use a actual gasket, or just some sort of sealant like RTV or something? This will be my last resort if I can't get the recall done.
