I'm kinda confused as to what the transfer case involves and what the transmission involves.
The transfer case is a safety issue, the syncros aren't.

And that is only if you let it drain out (which happens because the leak issue) and get dry. It can lock up and at high speeds is very dangerous.

So they won't even touch our trannies? I'm still assuming that most people's problems are the weak syncros.I've read over and over about this problem but have heard very little about the tc until now. Fixing the leak in the TC won't fix the tranny problem so we're back at square 1 if you ask me. I might as well start saving up to buy a rebuilt one from Kormex cuz it's my tranny, not my tc that's leaking and going bad. So much for getting my hopes up that Mitsu was going to fix my tranny problem. There goes $2000 . Oh well....anyone interested in a '94 VR-4 with a bad tranny? lol

OK, i dont know if this has been anwsered or what.....i have a 1991 VR-4, and my transmission has 110,000(aoorox) on it and my transmission just went.....its at the transmission shop right now, and if the 91 was already recalled, what do i do? I DO NOT by any means have the money to get a new transmission, and this month, my car payment, and insurence payment are due.....

the 91's are not included due to being 10yrs old and already having a recall on it.....and the Trannines are not the subject it is the Transfer Case, if that locks up then your in for a scary ride....the grinding synchros is just a part of diving one of the Top Super cars. I have noticed when I changed the fluid in mine it usually keeps it from grinding when I shift for a while and I have done it 2 times in the year that I have had the car...

I can attest to the locked up transfer case four wheel shimmy mod being hellified. Been there done that, over a 25' embankment upside down. That is why I don't have a stealth anymore, but it paid for my VR4.
