well, I took my car to a shop up in PA and noticed oil buildup under the TC, right around the seal. Called up a "local" mitsu stealership and was told that a visual inspection had been done and now I have to fight corporate to get it "fixed" WTF!

I got my tc sealed by the dealership couple of months a go from mile high mits and now my input shaft is leaking. Does input shaft has anything to do with tc?

I'm waiting till I crack the case in half before I take mine in. I'll be damned if they're doing a reseal job.

Teamperformance - At first, I didn't like quality mitsu, and opted for Mile-High Mitsu, just based on what some local DSM owners had told me, but after going to mile high for a couple things in the past (oil pan reseal - did a shoddy job myself, and the brake line recall) I won't go back again, anymore, I'll only go to quality mitsu, been going there for oem parts for a while, if Tallahassee doesn't have them online, or I need it asap. If you can dodge the shady salesmen, their service department isn't too bad, compared to most.
As for the input shaft... which shaft are we talking about here? The shaft that goes into the transfer case, or the one inside the transmission/bellhousing, that the clutch slides on? The shaft that leads into the transfer case would be a point of note - if it's leaking on the transfer case side, it may need to be resealed.

Just remember that if you wait until the case breaks / cracks, you might be getting more than just the case replaced. As I personally know two people (One being my father) that when their case cracked & the fluid drained out, with no pre warning, both had their wheels lock up. My father was on a well traveled hwy, traveling 60 mph. Put the car into a spin. The other person was lucky, they were just traveling through a neighborhood.

Also, just because you'll have a nice new t-case, the teeth on your shaft are probably warn down, so don't really expect them to replace that.

I know, it sounds bad, but I check up daily on the fluid level in the T-Case.

To be completely honest, that's only part of the reason I haven't taken it in. The other part of it is that in the past, most, if not all of the dealerships in Denver have either tried to screw me in the past, or are completely unable to keep their hands to themselves. After I took the car in to Mile High Mitsubishi for the brake recall, the car was overboosting. Hit 16-17psi, on a short run right when I pulled out of the dealership. Someone at that dealership had changed the settings on the EBC. Normal setting (blitz ebc) was Set: 55 Gain: 4. Was changed to 71 and 15, respectively.

Plus, after working at a dealership for a few years myself, I've seen what can go on. Between parts/personal belongings stolen, all the way to sabotaging an engine. Anything from half of a lock washer in the valve cover, all the way to something as simple as vacuum hoses disconnected, or wires cut, and Joyriding customer's vehicles. If nothing else, I just don't want to let them touch my car, but I can't get the recall done without the transfer case on the car.
Between that, and practically letting the case blow up, I'm not sure how I should handle the situation.

I totally understand your sutuation. When I went in for my t-case recall, shortly after my father's t-case failed, I sat there all day watching them from the corner of the bay. They bugged to take me to work & pick me up when they got done. Oh HELL no. Down side was my job was a bit pissed, but I'm like you, I don't trust those people at the dealerships. Dealerships are where mechanics go fresh outta school to get their first job. When they eventually get good, they leave to work for a privately owned place.

Just be careful. I check my case on occation, not everyday. Even though I had the recall completed. I get worried, because a month after I had that work done, I popped the fill plag to check the fluid level, and noticed that when they put that plug back in they stripped it. And I told them to hand torque the plug in. I asume they took an air tool to it instead. So I have carefully put that stripped plug back in. This Fall I'll get around to retapping the hole & buying a larger plug.

For the focking 3rd time in 2 weeks. Took my ride back to the dealership. Mechanics are still trying to figure out why in da hell seal is coming off again and again, anyway this is what these dum asses told me they did.
Removed trans assembly and disassembled and replaced all seals including input seal and bearing assembly both axle seals, the speedo gear o-ring and the transfer shaft seal and reseal the center case.
Tenshivr4, By the way I am going to new york for a week, when I come back we should get together sometime for a cruise or something and perhaps u can teach me a thing or 2 about these cars,

I'd like to know the answer to this too. I got a new TC from Mits a year ago and I think I might have a leak in the same place.
