To the best of my knowledge, unless they detect damage in the old transfer case, the recall only states that they replace the seals.

If there is damage, I'm guessing the transfer case is replaced with something better. Honestly though, I'm just piecemealing information together that I found on this site, so there's no telling if I'm right or not. :-\

Default Seal Kit

Anyone get the seal kit form the dealer w/o having to have them install it?

I don't let anyone work on my anymore but I need the seal kit and don't want to pay for it

Edit:

I couldn't get any dealer to give me the seal kit w/o installing it. Tallahasse Mitsubishi did sell me a seal kit for around $33.

Default is this thread dead or what???

I have a 91 VR4...90k....the transmission is having synchro problems, I never got this recall in the mail....I have had that "rocks in a tumbler sound" for over a year....it stops when the clutch is in....I though that was the tranny but some of these posts say it is the T/C???...and I think the transfer case is leaking, can I get anything done about this??? I called Mile High Mitsu here in Denver and they tell me the recall is for the seals in the trans case??? I want a new tranny too...does this recall even apply to the 91's thanks....and sorry if my ?'s were answered but I didnt see them in previous posts...thanks again, Dustin

Angry I'll tell you what does suck..

The fact that I got all excited over this recall and then found out that it only applies to other countries. Kuwait and I'm presuming the surrounding countries too, aren't covered. So I've got a leaky case, my synchro's are F 'ed up, and I'm here looking at my bitch sitting in the garage crying "Why 'O Why!!"

I'm a canadian and I've brought my car from US in last year. I've check the recall record in US for my 91 Stealth ES, the result is there have only 1 recall in the past. But it's not about transfercase. So is anyone one can check in US about this recall!

If you have a stealth ES, then it is not AWD and therefore does not have a transfer case.
