Now Dodge dealership called my friend(in Canada, because right now, I am in Japan..) and told him the parts are in for my car for the installation.

I realized a very important thing...

I remember that when I got my car inspected for my transfer/trans lock up, they were saying, they don't know if it is my tranny or transfer case that locked up, because if the transfer case locks up, it could screw up the transmission at the same time or something like that. I hope they can fix the transmission at the same time....ughh... I know this is gonna be a tough one...

I am sure someone else has a same deal like mine... Has anyone talked them about it?

ah. I wished our drivetrain is as solid as Supra's...(I know, I know.. Mitsu rules, but just saying)

A lot of Supras have problems with grinding in second gear just like our transmissions. But their 6-speeds cost about $1000-$1200 more than ours to replace. So there! Plus their drivetrains are much simpler b/c they're rear wheel drive instead of AWD. So they don't even have a TC to begin with.

Talking

I got the recall in the mail on Friday!!! I really needed this. I am away from my car until January 6th or so, though, so I won't be doing it until then. But, I will let you guys know what you want...

(I don't know if this is old news or not... I haven't checked the board in a while as I have been swamped with schoolwork lately, but just thought I would share for those who are interested.)

Dear Stealth R/T Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

DaimlerChrysler Corparation has determined that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in some 1991 through 1996 model year Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo All Wheel Drive vehicles.

The problem is...

What DaimlerChrysler and your dealer will do...
DaimlerChrysler will repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor). To do this, your dealer will inpect the transfer case for indications of oil leakage. Vehicles that have no oil leakage will have the transfer case oil changed. Vehicles that have oil leakage will have the transfer case resealed or replaced if necessary. The inspection and oil change will take about 1/2 hour to complete. Resealing or replacing the transfer cae will require another 1-2 hours. However, additional time may be necessary depending on how dealer appointments are scheduled and processed.

What you must do to ensure your safety...
Simply contact your dealer right away to schedule a service appointment. Ask the dealer to hold the parts for your vehicle or to order them before your appointment.

Bring the enclosed form with you to your dealer. It identifies the required service to the dealer.

If you need help...
If you have any questions or concerns which the dealer is unable to resolve, please contact the DaimlerChrysler Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-853-1403. A representative will assist you.

I received mine in the mail, too. Cool. Closest Mits dealer is 165 miles away...in Reno, NV. I'll have to get it on a lift here in town to check for leaks and go from there.

Fou,

Please let us know how the dealer handles your recall considering you have a 6-speed tranny & transfer case but a 1992 VIN. So far, my local Dodge dealer seems unwilling to honor the recall on my 92 stealth with 6-speed conversion. When I called the Chrysler recall hotline, they told me that my car was ineliglble because it has been "modified." If replacement is needed, they will only replace the transfer case on 91-93 vehicles with another 5-speed transfer case. I am not sure yet whether they will re-seal it if that is all that is needed.
