this is my latest reply from Chrysler Canada..

As previously stated, a review of our records indicates that your 1994 Dodge Stealth R/T does not currently require service for any recall campaigns issued by DaimlerChrysler. If your vehicle is involved in a future recall campaign, you will be notified promptly by mail.

As such, we researched our records further regarding transfer case recall campaigns and determined that you are referencing our Recall Campaign C780. This safety recall involved some 1990 through 1998 Eagle Talon TSi and some 1992 through 1994 Plymouth Laser RS vehicles equipped with all wheel drive. Your vehicle is not involved in this campaign, as such no further action is necessary.

The recall department must not know how to contact Transport Canada and ask for information on a recall..

I started a new thread asking for your stories about you transfer case recalls. If you could tell me about it that would be great.

Hope this link works

Ok, tell me if any of this ins T-case related.

Car vibrates under load in first, second, and third. What i mean by under load is if i floor it at 2400rpm, the car will vibrate, utnil it reaches above 35rpm. I'm not sure if it's driveshaft related or t-case related. Last time it did this, mitsu told me it was my T-case, and when i took it back to get it serviced, the service paper said they changed the tranny, and they said they canged the tranny, and the t-case was left untouched i'm guessing.

Also, does this seem t-case related??

Well this is good news about our TCes. But, the fact is they are still junk. I have a '92 VR4, bought with the tranny shot. Drove it for 2 months before 3rd and 4th gear vanished. Anyway, after it was all said and done I spent about $4200. I got the rebuilt tranny and TC from Kormex, aftermarket clutch/flywheel, and of course labor. Ok, the whole point to this post is that even after 3000 miles, my damn TC was seeping slightly. AND on top of that 2, yes TWO bolts that hold it together had come out and vamoosed. So my tranny tech and I replaced the bolts, but now what? I'm sure it will still leak. Junk. Also, my carrier bearings are shot, so I get a *huge* thunk when hitting the gas/shifting gears. I would REALLY hope thats not my new TC also. I would like to see a reimbursment, and some kinda *new* designed TC, maybe one from a 2nd gen. IMHO, I think they should rip off the ENTIRE driveline, tranny back, reinforce the 2nd gen model, then reinstall. But really, I'm not getting excited about anything just yet. Especially since I just bought a new TC. I'll keep reading....

Default transmission

When I took my car to the local delaer here (Santa Monica Mitsu) they found that BOTH my TC and TRANSmission are leaking oil........

Is it possible that the two leaks are related?? If the TC recall ever becomes active, is there any chance I can get my transmission replaced as well???

Thanks for your help.........

Crazey.. That doesn't sound like TC to me.. If the TC bearings are shot you will hear the gears buzzing from the play in them. Or the bearing will seise and all 4 tires will lock up. I think that sounds more like carrier bearings but I'm not totally sure about that.. If they replace the tranny they don't do the TC unless they say they did.
Tranny and TC problems are not related but you will ahve to really watch the TC oil levels if it's leaking. There's only 2 OZ of oil in the TC and once it get's to low you'll fry the bearing. It doesn't take much.
As for the carriers they are about $125 CDN I think. I helped Cryptic replace his a while ago. It's not all that hard to do if you can get your car off the ground.
The recall when active will only replace the TC. Transmission problems are not included because they are not a life threatening problem.

Get under your car. Look at your driveshaft. See where it splits in 2 sections? Each place it splits and sorta turns, its riding on bearings. They are your carrier bearings. They are mounted in rubber to asborb some shock so they should flex a tad. But when they wear out, they can flex too much and make the "thud" everytime you shift, or hit the gas or let off the gas. My rear most bearing is very worn, it moves a few inches. So you can imagine, everytime I shift.... *THUNK* Anyway, my local dealer told me $100 a set (and you need 2) and 3 hours labor. So about $400. (for me)

this is why you buy a carbon fiber driveshaft, to lose weight and get rid of the carrier bearings and shitty thunks

Thats ok I've priced the CF drive shafts. I'de rather kick in a couple more hundred and get a set of turbos...

That would be one of the very last things to do to the car...
