I posted in this thread somewhere but I'll update as to what happened with me.
I have a 1991 TT that had a leaking/sweating TC. Back in July I complained to my local dealership (in Canada) about my leaking TC. I told them all about the original 91 recall (which was already done), and the new recall that transport canada had posted. The service manager talked to someone from Chrysler Canada and said that I would get a new and improved transfer case free of charge. After 3-4 weeks a new TC for a 1991 model arrived from Japan. BUT it has the same part number as the original: MR165234. So I thought it was likely a reuild, but it was new because rebuilds have a different stamp on them (according to the dealership). So I did get a new TC, but it's not the new and improved version...at least I dont think so becuase it has the same part number. Once the new and improved version comes out, I'll bitch to get that one too, but at least im not in a rush anymore. |

This recall is totally different because theydon't include 1991 model vehicles. 1991 Recall was performed 1996 I believe. So please don't get confused. Those of you who got TC fixed are 1991 people who should have gotton that couple years ago.

The 2002 recall TC is for all years including 91. The original 1991 TC recall never properly fixed the problem. All they did was change a gasket or replace the TC with the same type of TC hoping it would fix the problem, but it does not. Here is the Transport Canada 2002 recall, which includes 91. http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/recal...p?recno=10101& The NHTSA recall CAMPAIGN ID Number: 02V143002, which was released Recall Date: 06/03/2002 , also includes the 1991 model. Here is a link to it: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/ |

wish they would hurry up about it. I know maybe we should all call mitsu USA's main office and ask about it. Maybe we can bother them so much they'll hurry up about it.

My friends T-Case is leaking and the input shaft is dead.
What I need is a dealers info, who has replaced a Transfer Case for someone here. If you've had your transfer case replaced by a dealer, please give me the info for your dealer asap!! Thanks!

No longer a 3/S owner.

I can't afford to be patient anymore, I stripped the output shaft and the female coupler, I've ordered the parts now, I can't wait for the recall to happen. I talked to my local dealership and they didn't know anything about any recall for my car. I started up the mitsu corporate offices and talked to some lady who said it isn't mitsu's fault this is happening. It is their fault! They need to get this fixed and it is a safety risk for those on the road with these cars! I want a new TC! What are the chances of that happening?

I was getting paranoid and worried about mine locking up, especially since it was leaking soooo bad. So I had the seals replaced, the pump tested for leaks, and basically R&R'd. No leaks, new seals, and I feel better. Do I think I'll get my money back, probably not, but at least it shouldn't seize up.
