I don't know what's going on here, but -- I just called to register my safety-related complaint. The woman basically told me it'll mean nothing to file the complaint, because the recall has already been issued by Mitsubishi. Her supervisor also got on the phone with me, and told me that the manufacturer doesn't have a time limit of any kind to adhere to when they're developing a remedy, so all of our complaints are basically worthless (her words, not mine)... Anyone else hear about what is supposed to 'come out of' us registering our complaints?
My TC was just sealed a few months ago, so obviously I have had problems with it leaking, and I would fall into the crowd of people who want to have this repaired. Curiously, though -- if they replace the transfer case, what ELSE will need to be replaced along with it? ..driveshaft? Or do they have (ahem) older-designed TC's on the bench somewhere that will mate with the parts we all have on our 1geners..? -Rich |

I was told that Mitz had 60-70 days to file their 577, and they are already late. So Scott said to call and file the complaints cause that would get the attention directed back at Mitz.
I make no guarantees, just passing on what I was told. But a complaint sure can't hurt. At least then you are on record if anything does happen. |

I just called Chrysler customer hotline, and I told them about the situation. The operator who was talking to me don't know what I was talking about, so I asked her to transfer me to manager who is in charge. I talked with him and he knows what is happening and you know he haning up on me... What the hell is this.... He said he knows there is a issue about TC about stealth and it is still on process and he said he would check with recall processing department???? and while that time the only thing that I hear was beeping sound from my phone. You know one of those line is busy sound? I'm getting really pissed.

Well chrysler is sending me a "corrected x-fer case". Whatever that means and is doing the repair for free. So i guess tha tis good news. The guys couldn;t tell me what the changes are that they are doing. All he said is that si was a creected x-fer case. So for CDN's. If you have a problem with your x-fer case, call chrysler about it and hopefully you to can get it fixed! Too bad its gonna take two weeks!!!

My transfer case actually locked up on me a few weeks ago. Going around a curve, and all 4 wheels locked up, threw me into a skid/semi-spin, right in the middle of the road around a blind curve. Couldn't push the car off the road or anything. Scared the crap out of me. Had my TC rebuilt, but it still leaked, so replaced it a third time. Thisrecall would be great. However, careful reading of the nhtsa website shows that manufacturers are NOT, repeat NOT, responsible for cars older than 10 years old. That is why 91's are not covered in this recall. I agree with the comments that some have raised, which is that if you tc is leaking, go get it fixed. Trust me, you will never want that feeling I had standing in the middle of the road trying to prevent cars from running into mine. Now I have my level checked everytime I have my oil changed.
Just my two cents.
