http://www.stealth316.com/2-awddrainfill.htm edit: You might want to try GM Syncromesh instead of RedLine products as Redline fluids are very expensive in Canada, and the synchromesh stuff can be picked up relatively cheaply, it's widely available at GM dealerships and works great. |

This pertains to Canadians only, I do not know for US cars.
I spoke today with DC (daimler-chrysler) and they have confirmed the recall for me. Tehy still do not have a solution for the problem but they will be using my car as a test for one of the possible soultions. So what this means is that if this works on my car, look forward to a official recall soon!! Please do not call DC yet, they are still not sure of what to do. As for damages already done and previous repairs. Keep all receipts from all of the owrk you had done, pictures are great. The more info you can have about the problem the better. Then when the recall is announced they will review all claims and possibly, possibly re-imburse you for your out-of-pocket expenses. I am going to keep on this for everyone, and i will get a solution. I am sorry I can;t do more for the US side but my hands are ties as DC-USA won't even talk to me. But if the CDN side calls it, I am sure the US will have to too. My car is currently being towed from where I was having the owrk done on my car to the Chrysler dealership of my choice and they will be inspecting it shortly. I will keep everyone updated, but I suggest checking the sticky thread as I will post their the most. 6G72TT

Hi,
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Campaign ID Number 02V143001 (www.nhtsa.dot.gov) has notified Mitsubishi and Dodge that on 6/3/02, NHTSA has issued a recall notice. It addresses the 4-wheel drive transfer case issue. It involves approximately 15,000 vehicles from 1991-1999. Mitsubishi has not made a decision yet on a remedy so dealers and owners have not received any information yet. Thanks for your support. Rick Last edited by Rick B : 08-31-2002 at 05:36 AM. |

Quick question, anyone know how LONG they are given to come up with a remedy? Seems to me like they shouldn't be given much time at all, since it's a safety issue. Anyone know? |

Ok, just talked to Scott Young (DOT 202-366-6761) and the recall IS OFFICIAL, the number Rick posted is the internal recall number and is their reference.
Mitz was supposed to file a 577 (plan and time line) for their proposed remedy within 60-70 days, but it has not happened. SO... We need to call 1-888-327-4236 which is their complaint line, to register a safety complaint. The more of us that call, the sooner (hopefully) they come up with a plan. When you call you will need your Vin number (I wasn't prepared, but you can be ). They will send a complaint form out to you and when you check it over and return it to them, you can also attach Copies of any related repairs.Hopefully if we all call and complain, something will start moving again. ![]() |
