Which shop are you going to fix it? Let me know.
BTW, few of 3sers of vancouver are going to mission raceway
on 28th of this month so if you are interested in that,
let me know.
The shop that was going ot do it was Berts Transmissions. The number is 604-464-0037. When I took my car to Dodge to find out what the problem was they took it over to him. So I jsut took it strait to him when I wanted ot get it fixed. I might be climbing Mt. Raineer on the 28th bt if I'm around I'de love to see some other owners. I have no mods to my car yet because I jsut got it a couple months ago but I want ot start doing stuff to it.

I tried driving my car as a FWD today but the traction control kept pouring the power to the rear wheels. So much for that idea.. :-(

Krusher - Unfortunately the only thing any of us (including the dealers) can do about this recall is wait. But in the mean time, why not get a hold of Transport Canada and tell them of your misfortune? Maybe that would help tip the scales in our favor. I would look at the prices for new gears from Kormex first before paying $800. You may be able to get them for cheaper. The number for Kormex is (800) 429-5464. See if Frank doesn't have any TCs lying around in his shop. GTPro also works on 3/Ss a lot. Maybe they would have one for cheap also?

I have heard of people wanting to convert these cars to RWD. A conversion to FWD would be the same concept. I just today got done rebuilding my transaxle. If one wanted to acceive FRW or RWD you would have to find a way to lock the front two piece out put shaft together. (If you don't know what I am talking about visit www.stealth316.com there is a pretty good section on how our AWD systems work.) Such as going in manually and weilding them together and then either removing the front diff and half shafts or the TC and drive shaft. That would prevent any slippage in the VC and all power would be transfered to either the front or rear wheels. I am not willing to destroy my output shafts for that though.

I talked to Dodge yesterday and they now have some recall information but they are still unsure what they are goign to do about the problem. He said it woull probably be at least a month before they come out with a way to fix it. He said any part of the recall that you get fixed yourself with be refunded but they still don't know what the recall will include. In our cases with broken TC's I'm not sure if they will replace the unit or not. Also if you get it fixed and then they decide to replace it with a redesigned part you can not get the new part and have them pay for the rebuilt one you just paid for. It took a lot of bitching to get them to check it out for me so I'm not sure if Dodge Canada will have the info in their computers yet or if my dealer phoned someone higher up to find out about it. Curt, my email is Kwaldbauer@shaw.ca
Good to see more Vancouver drivers out there..

Thumbs up SWEET

I brought my car into the local Dodge dealership (Canada) to have them do the new recall (They now knew about it ).
They looked at the "Case Seal" (which was the 1991 recall) and determined that wasnt the problem, the leaking was actually coming out of the pores of the transfer case, soooo they are getting me a brand new transfer case!!!
The "new and improved" (quote from the service manager) transfer case, will be shipped to the dealership in 7-8 weeks.
So basically I get to bag on my TC all I want, and I get a brand new TC in two months!
/me does happy dance now...
