So if for what ever reason the sychros get replaced with the cheaper all brass version...what is the life expectancy with normal driving? Hard driving? or if I baby it?

My Chrysler A523, 543, and 568 transmissions have brass synchronizers in them. They pretty much outlast the transmissions. One has 190,000 miles, one has 152,000 miles, and the last has 103,000. They shift like brand new yet. Granted, these are cheaper transmissions in cheaper cars so they don't shift at the supercar level, but they'll outlast the original synchros in the 3/S transmissions easily.

Unless, not all brass synchronizers are created equal... regardless, I predict that the brass synchronizers won't shift with quite the authority of the "organics" but will outlast them.

I'll tel you what we did with them, and you can decide.

come to think of it, it was more like 3 1/2 years ago .

We installed them in a car we have here, the Mechanic test drove the car and thought they where good , So we tried them on two customers transmissions one was Matt Monett from dynamic , he called me the same day that he had installed it and told me of grinding 3rd gear . The other customer If I remember correctly was (Doug ) , he called me like 2 weeks after he had installed it and had 3rd gear grind . I opened all 3 transmissions myself and the synchros where trashed on all 3. I called the manufacturer of the Synchros and told him about the problems we where having. Since then we have not used bronze 3/4 synchros , we do however use bronze for 5th and reverse without any problems. We have since torn many cores that we get back with these bronze synchros and they are all trashed ( I have a bucket full ) .

Your Chrysler doesn't have the same SIZE gears that these do .
BTW, the transmissions you mentioned have carbon coated steel synchros
which have problems of their own while shifting . I remember building about 7 of those transmissions a week , their main problem was also synchros.

Well my third gear has been grinding so I bought some parts to fix it from my local Dodge Dealer. We got the entire 3rd gear hub assembly and an entire brand new 3rd gear. Hopefully the assembly will have the better of the two sychros. We also got 2 extra sychros, but I'm not sure if they were all brass or not...I'm afraid that they might be.
