The transmission appears to be stuck, and its only able to go between 3rd and 4th. Anyone have idea suggestions on where to start to get this issue resolved?

Sounds like a linkage issue. Did the shift lever start feeling different after the problem? Pull up the shift boot in the car and make sure the cables are still attatched. The other end of the cables are on the tranny. Check that end also. Let us know what you find.

Alright so finally got working on the car, the linkage is attached at both ends. The control arms on the transmission function as follows:

The one closest to me standing on the passengers side of the car moves while the one furthest away is stuck.

Any ideas?

Take the cable off of the one that is stuck and see if you can move it with your hand.

Take the cable off of the one that is stuck (sounds like the it goes to the arm that is verticle correct?) and push it into and out of it's sheath. If the shift lever in the car does not move, then the shift cables need to be replaced. They come as a set and there are two different kinds out there. One has adjusting nuts on the cabin side for both cables and one has the adjusting nuts for only one cable.

I think he took the cables off of the tranny and the shift lever on the
tranny is stuck.

Ah I see what he is saying now.

One of the arms rotates while the other moves the trannys shift shaft into and out of the housing. If the one that rotates is not in it's center position, then you will not be able to move the other arm.

the one that rotates can move into two spots and the upright one does not move at all.
