Default Sell it or repair it???

Well heres the situation, i have a early 91 TT RT and i have a slight grind if i try to shift quickly from 1st to 2nd gear....i have been reading all these threads about crappy brass synchros and the transmission repair parts "well" drying up. I was thinkin about doing the jacks premium rebuild, problem is i have an 18 spline output shaft and it is in perfect condition along with the T case and i dont wan to try to go to a 25 spline and thats all that jacks has. So i come to a point where it is just going to get more and more expensive to fix the car and if i do keep it i want to get to the 450 to 550 HP range and the stock stuff aint gonna handle that. So heres the question do i fork over $4000 for the tranny and probably another $1500 for a flyweel and clutch since the trans will be off, which means a T case upgrade to a 25 spline unit. Or do i cut my losses and sell to a more dedicated member with more money to play with???

The car is in very good condition, had it for 20K miles with no down time at all for repairs. The interior is beautiful. the paint is pretty good but i just got a chip on the bumper about a month ago, the engine runs as well as my brand new truck and it has a couple aftermarket parts, MBC, Stillen down pipe, gutted rear cat and a Matrix filter....

Any advice from the Experts???

4k? You can get it done cheaper then that with a rebuild for those syncros. Plus you can just get an upgraded output shaft and not have to worry about the 18 to 25 spline conversion...been there, done that, and its no fun. The 25 spline tc is no stroner then the 18 spline tc. So if you want to get up upgraded TC, and you might want it with as much power ask your wanting, then thats prob another 1500. But you can get your tranny rebuilt compleatly for less then 2k IIRC. Call up Kormax and see how much they are.

Have you tried draining the fluid and installingsynchromesh fluid? Worked fine for me some 40,000 miles ago.

not if your just needing 1 to 2 syncro. Thats a little over kill dont you think? Go look on supercarengining just to look how much the 1-2 syncros cost. Or you can do as stated above and try changing the fluid.

fix and repair what you need it and upgrade what you should. I would definately get a hardened output shaft if your 18 spline and want ~500HP.

Research all your upgrades before purhcasing. You can save alot of money doing it right the first time!
