Default Re: Rebuilding trans-Input on 3rd gear? Pics inside

Yes, the parts 3SX sells for the Getrag are OEM Mitsu/Getrag Straight from Japan. No chinese transaxle parts.

Personally, I would change that gear out. It will cause engagment problems.
Both the dogs on the gear and teeth on the slider need to be sharp/to a point in order for the gear to engage quickly and smoothly without grind. If they are flattened/chipped you will not have smooth engagement.

Thanks for the input everyone.. I guess I will try to scrape my pennies together to buy a new 3rd unless I can find someone parting out a 5spd.

The ones we use are steel with a bronze friction surface in the center. They are the latest version of the rings from Japan. The all brass synchros do not expand so I have no clue what you are talking about there. We used to use all brass synchros in all of our DSM and 3S trannies a few years ago and as long as they were from Japan, they were excellent. We now use all bronze synchros in the DSMs and the steel unit with bronze friction centers in the 3S. I don't know why you think we don't use the latest and greatest stuff
