Default Pennzoil Synchromesh and the TC

Looking for opinions, or experiences about using Penn. Synchromesh in the transfer case. It lists that it can be used with certain manual trannys and TC's (which ones IDK), and as you know, both can use the same recommended lube. So, just wondering what some of you might think about it!

I wouldn't... With the design of our Tcase, I'd pick an oil as if it were differential. Would you put syncromesh oil in your rear diff?

I have synchromesh in my TC, and have for about 3 years now. No problems.

Put gear oil in your transfer case. There are no synchronizers in our transfer case, only gears, bearings and seals, don't put MT fluid in it. MT fluid is designed to allow synchros to shear through the lube film and grab a gear so you can shift...gear oil is designed with extreme pressure additives in an effort to never have anything break through the lube film and prevent wear of gears. PUT GEAR OIL IN YOUR TRANSFER CASE.

Thanks for the replies. I thought the synchromesh label listed trannys and tc's, but after looking again it's trannys and transaxles. Bruhaba makes sense, think I'll go back to the 75-85w gear lube. I've had p. synchromesh in the TC for a short time now, and started wondering if it was a good idea. Good to know some have used it for awhile now with no problems. Thanks again.
