Default Need Tranny rebuild/ 93 VR4- Experience with Jack's?

I need 2nd and 3rd gear synchros and local shops ar unfamiliar with our trannys and will be very expensive. The 2-3 that I called won't give a quote until the tranny is pulled!!!! Used trannys are obscenely expensive (most as much or more than a rebuild!) and are riskier, usually with high milage.
I found Jack's transmission on a thread on this forum and a local tuner shop mentioned them. I think I'm going with them (rebuild for $1499). Of course I have to pay to have the tranny pulled, shipped and re installed which will cost about another $700 or so ($400 for labor and $130 shipping each way).
hI was wondering before I commit if anyone has had experience with this place.

Kormex also Rebuilds them.

I am surprised there are no local shops that can do it.
It really is not that hard to pull the tranny out of the car. Time consuming if it is your first time.

There is no manual. Shops that don't know anything about these cars don't generally want to deal with them, as they always go step by step by the book..

If the book doesn't exist, well... they don't do the work.

But there is a book. You can find it on here.

If you PM me your email address I will email it to you. It was translated from the original Japanese to English.

Audio, have you tried calling the boys at ESP? I don't know if they do trannys per se, but if not they would know if anyone around here does do them. Just a thought. They would also be a good bet to pull and reinstall the tranny if you're not doing that yourself.

ESP did the rebuild and most of the modding. They are WAY too inconvenient to get to. It's a pain to get there and have someone follow to get back.
I just called Kormex. They are $250 more than Jack's. I'm not sure if it's worth it.

You're right.
I just called him. He said it's $800 or so.
Anybody used him?

Another option I can give you is to rebuild and send you one of our cores we have here. That way you won't have as much down time and all you have to do is swap the tranny there and ship your core back. $600 is a hell of a deal. It costs that much to just replace all of the synchro rings, hub and slider, and springs and balls for 1/2 only. We use new parts, you may want to ask them if they use new or refurbed parts.
