I need 2nd and 3rd gear synchros and local shops ar unfamiliar with our trannys and will be very expensive. The 2-3 that I called won't give a quote until the tranny is pulled!!!! Used trannys are obscenely expensive (most as much or more than a rebuild!) and are riskier, usually with high milage.
I found Jack's transmission on a thread on this forum and a local tuner shop mentioned them. I think I'm going with them (rebuild for $1499). Of course I have to pay to have the tranny pulled, shipped and re installed which will cost about another $700 or so ($400 for labor and $130 shipping each way). hI was wondering before I commit if anyone has had experience with this place.

Kormex also Rebuilds them.
I am surprised there are no local shops that can do it. It really is not that hard to pull the tranny out of the car. Time consuming if it is your first time.

Audio, have you tried calling the boys at ESP? I don't know if they do trannys per se, but if not they would know if anyone around here does do them. Just a thought. They would also be a good bet to pull and reinstall the tranny if you're not doing that yourself.

I just called Kormex. They are $250 more than Jack's. I'm not sure if it's worth it. Last edited by Audiophobe : 03-17-2008 at 11:08 AM. |

Another option I can give you is to rebuild and send you one of our cores we have here. That way you won't have as much down time and all you have to do is swap the tranny there and ship your core back. $600 is a hell of a deal. It costs that much to just replace all of the synchro rings, hub and slider, and springs and balls for 1/2 only. We use new parts, you may want to ask them if they use new or refurbed parts.
