There have been other threads that had nothing to do with Kormex, but as soon a Komex was mentioned...guess who shows up? I wouldnt be surprised if he hits the search button every morning just to see whats brewing

I called them about a week ago and talked with two guys. They said the syncros were replaced so its not the transmission. They kept asking me about the noise it makes, but its not so much the noise as the notchiness and pausing in neutral that bothers me. I mean you cant shift a rebuilt tranny at a normal speed tells me there is something wrong with it. But I dont have the cash or time to have it pulled and checked out. They do come with a 3mth warranty though.
If I absolutely dont want it, I can send it back and they will take a look at it. But I have to pay for shipping which is 300 and then pay to have my mechanic take it out and put it back in. |

It was in decent condition for having 90K on it. It didn't grind normally but was really notchy and shifted really slow. When shifting fast you could hear the low pitch metal zip(slight grind). I plan on having some track time with this car so that was not acceptable to me. Now, $3000+ later, I'm only a little better off, other than I have a clutch that will hold now, but no big transmission improvement. |

If you want my opinion (based on experience and nothing else) The guy with the notchy trans and some sort of buzz cant explain it(driver): He mentioned he had that buzz and "notchy" feeling in his old trans and it's still the same with this trans . He adjusts his shifter and it seems to get a little better . This to me means that he probably has some other simple problem with his car that still exists even after he installed a rebuilt trans. Or maybe he did get a trans from us that had exactly the same problems as his old one , anything is posible Audiophobe (Dave) After the shop received the trans from us I got a call from them telling me that there was a crack in the case where the filler plug goes ,and asked if they could weld it without voiding warranty . Look I know we dont send a trans with a broken case exactly where every single one of them breaks , we do check there, but since the guy was willing to weld it there, I just said go ahead and weld it no problem . Now Dave calls me and tells me that there is some noise sort of a whine but also a tapping like baseball cards on the spokes of a bycicle. I have to see it before I can tell you whats wrong and I'll take pictures and post them here if you want. It could have been us overlooking something YES , I cant tell you unless I see it . I can tell you this though , I've sold more then 15 of these since, without a problem. And I have gotten several calls from Mechanics telling me that they've broken the plug while tightening the filler plug, It happens to the best . |
