Default just went from 4wd to 2wd:(

the one time i drive my car in the winter and this bs happens. slide into snowbank going like 4mph cuz its slippery out and i didn't want to hurt my baby. well i did, the front pas. side got it. felt like just the wheel got the bank but it's a solid snowbank from salt and warm weather and then the cold. anyway, this ever happen to anybody? it feels like the clutch is slipping huge and the revs. are going to high to fast. no visible body damage other than a few scrapes. easy/hard fix?
if this problem was posted before just tell me and i will look a bit further into it.

That doesn't sound like a situation that would break your VCU. I'd suspect the clutch. How old is it?

edit: And stop driving your 99 in old salty snow.

Stripped output shaft maybe. Does the clutch still work normal as far as engagement feel?

yeep. clutch seems fine, just when i get a bit on the gas it feels like im on ice (cant even get up my driveway) but there is a faint whine in the background when going a little faster (after it happened i only went into 3rd) at a constant speed. still builds boost. there is a clunk feel when turning a cloverleaf, cant really hear it but you can feel it in the pedal and wheel. hmm...cant think of any other symptoms.

Tough to say. If you can build boost and get to freeway speeds I doubt it would be the output shaft then. Does it go normaly if you don't get on it?

This seems really similar to wg=hats been happening to me recently. Weird niose in the background and first and second gear really seem like their trying but barely any response from the car. Third onwards feel fine. Boost is present as well.

I slipped on back ice a few weeks ago and pinballed against the sides (snowbanks) on a highway ramp. The car was fine for awhile after I got the wheels realigned etc.

Did you ever find out what was wrong and if you don't mind how much did it cost to fix.

Thanks
