Default Incorrect transfer case output seal?

I have the output seal from Mitsubishi, #MB837031. The opening for the drive shaft is about 1/16"-1/8" too small to fit. Has anybody else run into this problem? I've even tried the seal by itself, not installed in the transfer case, and it doesn't slide over the drive shaft at all.

This is what I'm talking about. Old seal (KOK 12553) on the right, new seal on the left. There's absolutely no way this seal will fit over the drive shaft. The new seal has no ID markings that I can decipher, but it came bagged from Mitsubishi.

Maybe that's their idea of fixing the t case. A seal so small and tight it cant leak.
