Default Hum/howl/rubbing sound under load?

Recently I've noticed my daily driver '95 RT/TT has developed a bit of a rubbing / howling sound on acceleration. From the cab it sounds like it comes from right under my feet. Any ideas what this could be? Bearings dying?

Feel free to point me to a link if this is a well-known symptom.

does the noise come and go with the acceleration of the car? or when you turn left to right? if so..more then likely a bad wheel bearing. thats what mine is doing right now, and i took it in and thats what they suggested it was.

It is definitely correlated with acceleration. Wheel bearings was my first thought too, I'll see if that is in fact the problem.
