Question:
How much have you been charged at a transmission shop for replacing a clutch. Assuming you bring in all your own parts and just pay them for labor. I've been quoted $350-400, $650, $700, $801, and $950 all from different places for the job. Whats your input, any past experiences?

honestly i would say read up on it and if possible do it yourself. i just replaced mine last week after i got the vr4 back out of storage. it was my first ever; it took a while, but its worth it if your willing to do it. the labor on one installed alone can be more than the clutch depending on where you go. mainly you just need some jack stands, a floor jack, proper sockets, and a transmission jack. my first time took me just under 8 hours. its an undertaking, but stealth316.com helps ALOT. and honestly once your done you feel great because you have saved money and you have learned to do something new with your car.

both times i've had a clutch replaced in my stealth it cost right around 1200.00 to have it done, but that included the clutch and pp as well. Sure, you can do it yourself if you know one end of a socket from another and can follow directions, but it would get frustrating trying to figure out everything the first time through.

1st time it was done, $500 from a cheap shop, i supplied all the parts. I now work at a dealership now and I can get really cheap labor, so the second time it was only around $300 with me supplying the parts. I think generally from a dealership labor is $800+
