Have you heard anything about the 3rd gear syncros yet? As soon as you give the green light, I am in for 1,2, and 3rd for my 6 speed.

Armond - I got a few 6spd 3-4 blocking rings in 100 each, 1-2 are $80 each

anybody know what material the inner and outer 1/2 syncro ring is made of? i may make a couple to try on mine,and eventually make more if it works out. also the if they are heat treated/hardness. i would assume they are some sort of 4140 prehard. if anybody knows, PM me now

Just wondering, but if there is a grinding in third and fifth, what parts should I be ordering for a rebuild? Just the 3rd and fifth gear synchros or anything else? Also, i have a 91 GTO TT, I'm pretty sure its 18-spline, whats the best place to get the replacement 300m shaft, and whats the avg price on one?

They changed the design in 92 I believe. They either went from bronze to brass or brass to bronze. I can not remember which way they went. The tangs (the crown tip looking things) are heat treated on the OEM ones.

You may need the gears and synchro sleeves in addittion to the synchro rings. You will not know for sure until you open it up and check. If the dog teeth are worn or if there are brass/bronze deposits on the cones, then they should be replaced. Either Kormex or us here at 3SX will most likely have the synchro rings/gears/sleeves if you need them. If you work at a shop, then you can buy from All Trans Parts. As for the shaft, SCE is the cheapest place I know of for a 300m. However, NBT has one a little bit stronger and the splines are treated to help prevent rust for a little cheaper. Check out the SCE web site for the 300m and the GB forum for the NBT shaft.

I just updated the "Everything you need to know about your AWD drive train" topic in the wiki forum. There are a lot of new additions to it for those that may be interested.
