Hope is not lost. Mentor Mitsu can order things from Japan as fast as one week if you give them the part number. One week sounds pretty fast to me for international shipping. I personally called them and that is what they told me. I priced a few things out with them a couple weeks ago.

just a quick update. We have a steady supply of oem style 1/2 friction rings and outer rings, we are currently testing a 3/4 6 speed synchro that I will hopefully clear for public sale in the next few weeks and we are currently working on the 3/4 5 speed synchros. stay tuned for update. be assured we are putting all of our engeries and R & D dollars into the synchro problem.

Cool! I heard gatecrasher had a group of guys starting a rebuild service but until now I didn't know much about it. I'll be doing rebuilds through 3SX (my new employer) soon, just have to get a few more things squared away first.

Personlly, I think the problem with the synchros is that they are 14 years old, members clutches are dragging, the linkage needs to be adjusted, the fluid some members are using isn't very good, and some people aren't as good at shifting as they think they are. I know I used to have all of those problems at one time or another. However, after I replaced my dragging clutch with a new one along with the worn 2nd gear, collar, and rings, and adjusted the linkage, my car shifts better than it ever has.

Don't forget Mentor Mitsu can get members parts also. If any one needs a JDM PN, then let me know.

DarkHelmet - I noticed that on a lot of the Getrag PNs from the price quotes I have gotten from AutoCraft, that they start with 440 or 446. Some of them start with 900 or 010 or some thing else. Do you think these could be Getrag model numbers with parts that cross refference to our 440/446 units?

it's possible. I have Gate doing some research into that. I'll let you know what it turns up. And the cost to get the parts from japan is insane. $160 for a 1st gear synchro assy. currently we sell the friction rings for $38. It is my hope to be the domestic parts source and keep the prices as low or close what the oem ones were.
