This is a major problem with the OLD faq system. This information has been moved to the wiki How do I get parts for my AWD Transmission?

Could someone with the current pricing update that page?
I plan to make that wiki pages disscussion button link to this thread.

The Supra has some interchangeable parts (including synchros, I believe)
The 1-2 friction ring. That's the only one that matches. the other ones are sitting in my aforementioned pile of expensive paperweights.

Why bother? By the time we get the sheet, we'll just have to update it again with this:

Code:
Autocraft W5MG1/W6MG1 price list

1-2 outer ring: Not available
1-2 blocker ring: Not available
1-2 inner ring: Not available
3-4 blocker ring: Not available
5 blocker ring: Not available

I was hoping the updates might list the actual sources for parts. Places like your shop

But that would be the part with the most wear, correct? After looking at exploded diagrams, it looks like the only really hard part to have machined would be the outer cone. Lucius' page says all parts are steel, with a coating for the friction surface.

Does that part see a lot of wear? How many people with a grinding 1st-2nd shift would just need the friction ring?

Haven't the last dozen posts in this thread related to the fact that I can't find parts ?

That's what most people need, and it is indeed a good thing. What's even better is that I found yet another 1-2 friction ring in a trans from another manufacturer. that trans even has a matching outer ring. We're still missing the inner ring, which does sometimes get overheated and broken.

We're also missing every other syncro in the trans, which is the big problem. I've seen destroyed 5th gear syncros on the 5 speed, my own 6-speed has a slightly crunchy 3rd gear, and the last 6-speed I did had the friction material totally burned off of both the 3 and 4 rings.

We're also SOL for the really important stuff like viscous couplings and gears, but at least the gears could be salvaged from core exchanges.

what parts do you think would survive a Differential exploding from wheelhop?

My point was that there is a source somewhere in Japan. I am pretty sure I seen someone post that the parts are able to be ordered from dealers in Japan, just give them the part # and they order it.... may take abit but you get it to you in the end. Perhaps another dealer in the US would be willing to build that relationship with Mits Japan, or maybe we can just find a dealer in Japan to call and order the parts from.

I just dont think hope is lost yet.

Rob

It isn't a problem with this sticky though. The last update I did to the first page of this thread is still current and list all the current sources with contact info and recommendations for who to call for what parts. The reason I do not post prices is because I don't want members to believe that a synchro cost $15 when the latest price change has it listed for $55. Members could get upset over something like that.
