smokinvr-4 - Sent you an e-mail because your box was full.

Gatecrasher - Your box is full also. Anyone know who rebuilds/puts together the TCs for Mitsu? AutoCraft said it wasn't them.

If there's any lead on that, I'd be very interested. I've got two 6-speed transfercases that I've stripped the gears out of (the third dead one went back to Mitsu with the recall) that I'd like to get new internals for if there is any way to acquire them. Cost isn't an issue (within reason).

I have no idea who does them. I was going to work on them, but I'm not willing to expose myself to the liability given the lack of service specs and the known failure rate.

i think getrag is still in charge of them. the two i got from recalls looked brand new and had intials and car years engraved on them. they werent repainted like how CRS does it so it think its brand new cases. not sure about internals.

would mitsu mentor be able to use his contacts in japan to help us figure this out?

1stgen24 - A lot of times you will need the reverse gear and synchro collar to go with it. You never know for sure until you open it up though and look at the condition of the dog teeth. If you have the 6 speed just laying around, then go ahead and open it up and carefully inspect everything. You never know what you will see.

maddog - Howard no longer works at Mentor OH Mitsubishi. That dealer can still get parts through Japan though. It would be worth giving them a cal or e-mail about the TCs.

I have sent an e-mail out to Mark Williams Interprises about the possibility of TC internals and a few other things. I'll keep you guys posted.

Howard no longer works at Mentor? That's a huge loss. He was a valuable resource who seemed genuinely interested in our cars. Is he still in the business?

That I do not know. I only confirmed that he no longer works for Mitsu. I would like to know what happened to him. I don't even think I rememberseeing him post on 3Si in a long time.
