So does this mean that 18 spline equipment in general is going to be real hard to find? I suppose that means we should all start looking to find a 25 spline tranny and TC and stash it away somewhere for that rainy day.

Well, as I said, a lot of the stuff is interchangable all the way into the last 6-speeds in 99. Namely the syncros and most of the seals. I've also got a resource for seals, and the output shafts shouldn't be a big issue. The only thing I'd really worry about would be VCUs. The car will run fine with a dead one, but it'll act as if it has an open center diff instead of a limited slip.
Cases can generally be repaired unless they're catastrophic. This is pretty much where I'm going to try to position my business. I'm going to try to give us as many options as possible as parts become harder to find.

The bell housing can be repaired unless it's catastrophic, most of the internal parts are interchangable with the 25 spline 5-speeds and even the 6-speeds, and things like output shafts, spools and seals, we have aftermarket solutions for. I'm trying to position my business to supply these things as they become harder to find through "official" channels. I'll start publicizing things a bit more once I get things nailed down. |

No body has to ready anything to know what is goign on except the very first post. No need to read all 60 pages. No need to even read past post number one. The first post will continue to be updated.
All the synchros are still available through AutoCraft. They may occasionally run out of stock but they WILL order more. The only expection I have been told was with the housings. As long as you have a good aluminum welder you will be fine. Expect to pay for that welder's rare ability, but it still will be cheaper than a new housing. If you are in need of an 18 spline VCU then I recommend a 25 spline conversion.

The only chance any one has of reaching Bill on the phone is in the early mornings. It is by far easier and fast to get up with him through fax. Personally, I don't even waste my time trying to call him. I just use the fax at work and a few hours later or as long as the next day I get a list with prices faxed back.
