Maybe. I've got a couple different sizes and types of springs (thanks to you Bob ) For instance, there's a stainless steel version of the stock spring. It's a little softer than the stockers. Depending on the spring pressure used, that could in theory affect how quickly the syncro ring grabs on the gear.

It's really fascinating how these little things work when you get right down to it.

The really interesting thing I've found lately is that some newer transmissions use carbon/carbon friction rings I've found some new information on Getrag's synchronizer implementation, and there is a remote possibility that we can use syncros with a newer design and maybe even the carbon versions. I even found out that a Getrag trans and syncros are used in one fairly high end racecar. Finding any really useful info is proving to be a pain though.

Don't get your hopes up yet, but I am trying very hard to find out more.

I want them to make syncros with the Kevlar that's on my Spec Stage-II........

Keep the old syncro rings, maybe we could get them re-faced.....

There's no such thing as a stainless syncro, at least for this car. You don't need to read all 56 pages. Just the first one.

>Doh!< I just bought the slider assy. from AutoCraft for $260 because 2 of my 3 springs were broken. Guess it doesn't hurt to have a new ring to go with it anyways.

Great find! Seems like the springs like to break under extreme conditions.

More good news.

I now have a source for the ball bearings that go in the syncros

Launch one across the garage? Droped one under your work bench?

No problem! $5 will fix you up. You'll get 3 bearings shipped to your door PM me if you need some. I'll have an order of 20 of each size on Monday.

They came out much cheaper than the springs. Maybe Bret can update the first page with the spring and ball info.

Just recieved my bearings in from Autocraft. Fast shipping and very easy to work with once you get a hold of the,. I just wish they would have written on the little baggies which bearings are what. 20 baggies that look pretty similar...
