Yeah, most people don't seem to realize that Getrag didn't just pop up yesterday. Thay have been around a while. I had one member I was talking to mention how much they disliked these Getrag's and then they said they wanted a Viper. I asked if they wanted a newer Viper with the Borg-Warner transmission or one of the older Vipers with a Getrag. :P

True, but Getrag has made their share of mistakes along the way just as any other company has. BMW motorcycle gearboxes come to mind... No company is perfect.

Welcome to big business... Anyhow, so the status on all other parts for the transaxles is all go? I need to get a full bearing and seal set for my rebuild and if I have to keep calling my buddy in Japan to get this stuff I'm gonna be pissed... |

![]() Apparently I broke the 1/2 shift fork in half and the half that broke off ate itself and ruined all the bearings. Guess that's why i had a hard shifting into 3rd at the track this year. All the blocking rings were baby smooth and the 1/2 syncro hub and sleeved came out in several pieces. My stepdad and rebuilder think that I wasn't the only driving the shit out of this thing. Guess that's why it refused to go into 1st even when I bought the thing. They also seem to think the GM Syncromesh is too thin and that exacerbated wear instead of warding it off.

I just switched from RED Line MTL to GM full synthetic Synchromesh just to see if they was much of a difference. There wasn't to tell the truth. Except for the price that is. Red Line is about three times as cheap. The Synchromesh did seem to help a little bit with my 2nd gear high RPM grinding but honestly, the difference is not large enough to warrent me spending the big bucks to put it in my tranny again. If any one needs Synchromesh to fix a grinding problem then they are just delaying the enevitable. Plus, Red Line is GL-4 and not GL-5 like Synchromesh. GL-4 is what the manual recommends and GL-5s decrease the life span of brass/bronze synchro material from what I remember.
