A/V dude - The springs are different bewteen the two.

vr4_rider - That price for all of the six speed synchros is about right. Remember that their prices do change fairly often. Some times the prices go up and some times down. Last I checked the synchro rings for reverse gear was pretty expensive compaired to the rest. The 3/4 ring is also a little higher priced than it used to be. Some of the others are a little less right now though.

Bret, are you refering to 250 for the first gear set, or for the WHOLE 1-6?

I bought 1-3 and Reverse for a little over 600 dollars!

Thanks,
Trung

When AutoCraft/CRS has everything in stock you can get a set (1-6+reverse)for around that price. If they don't have all the rings for 1/2 then you can get a set through Mentor Mitsu between $200-$250 for just one set of rings for 1st or 2nd depending on which design rings you have. 91-92.5 or 92.5-99 but both sets are interchangable as I am currently running 91-92.5 rings in my 1st and 2nd gears for my 94 transaxle.

I have a complete set of synchros for my W5MG1 as seen on http://www.stealth316.com/2-awd4.htm . As I mentioned *all* synchro parts are steel except the reverse ring. There is a friction coating on one or both sides of the rings.

The spring i got from Miguel from his 6 speed is not the same as the 5 speed (it is the same as the 5 speed 3-4 spring though, but we are not 100% sure the one he sent was in fact the 1-2 spring)

So anyway, i still need these, and now that i have the springs removed, i find there are 2 broken not just 1

Thanks

With all of the people and resources this board has, we can't source a few springs?

I should have been more specific with my respronce. I was refering to the friction coatings. The friction coatings are not steel. Some of the synchro rings used in newer Getrag applications look to be solid steel though. They have no friction coatings at all.

We found a source for the springs. It just isn't a very practical source. they are out of a $65 chevy over haul kit. Sixty five dollars for a set of springs doesn't sound too good to me but it is better than $200+ for a synchro assembly. If any one knows of an alternitive source let me know.
