How is this?

Check this out! I just got word from my buddy who is vacationing in Japan. He went to a Dealership out there and picked up the 1st and 2nd gear synchros for $160 each USD. Obviously these parts are available in easy supply. We just need someone with some capital to buy like 20 of them direct and possibly get a decent price on them. Good to know though that we have a reliable source from them here in the states through Howard and Mentor Mitsu. Can't stand their sales department, but parts is a whole nother breed of person

Gate: did that one work for you that you ordered? I didn't hear anything other than you were waiting to put it in. I ordered the same part number given to me by Howard. If not then I have two synchro assemblies to SOME mitsu transmission.

I haven't put it in yet. One thing or another keeps putting off the purchase of my 17 ton press. My whole spare trans is awaiting a rebuild.

I can tell by looking at it that it's the right part. I have zero doubt and I have full faith and confidence in Howard that it is the correct part.

I've been dealing with real life.

I skimmed the "MR" gear thing. Those gears are common to all the Japanese 6 speeds, as recently confirmed once and for all by my Getrag repair manual.

I'm going to install the set you sold me....one of these days.

Cool Jeff ,
I hope all is well with you and yours.
Confirnming that the MR does not have a different Ratio then a non "MR" VR4 6spd makes sense somewhat.

I finally got around to installing a welded ctr diff on the stealth that we have around the shop ,havent had a chance to test drivability ( awaiting for a 6spd driveshaft) .I also installed a 6spd with the Jap Gears ,should be intresting .

I personally dont care if they are not MR or not, they are lower and that is all that matters to me. That is actually cooler because we should have a lot of quantity to go around. Kormex curious on that welded VCU project!

www.harborfreight.com check out the 20 ton press. Good deal. I caught it when it was only $160. OR was it $160 before the sale..Ican't remember. All I know is I need a bearing separator and I will be ready to rip this trans a new ass.

Ya but they look like junk in person. I dont like the head assy being floating/sloppy, you have to see it up close to know what i am talking about.

I got my 20 ton from there, has worked great for me on several trannies. Don't have any experience with anything else, but no complaints...
