How much investment for develpment : 1.)Reverse engineering -this is usually very simple but this part was particularly expensive. 2.)Minimum buy (you need to buy at least 1000 pcs.) In our case we also had a failed run that cost quite a bit (parts where to spec but material was not satisfactory) this happens often when developing anything. Imagine trying to build a webpage where you cannot change anything once you build it . And expect it all to work flawless. 3.) What do we want back for the investment this number is a product of projected sales, and determines the price . We do not price things according to : "how much are they willing to spend" that question is weighed before developing anything . As for the quality , we did some initial testing (after the investment) that determined that they were better then what was available at the time (good used) . There are some that swer by them ,and there are others that wouldn't want them for free (Ray R.) . All in all it was a good deal for us (we are not here to come out even ) And the only complaint that I have is that some beleive that somehow we are ripping people off but hey things alwys have a way of turning out for the best ,and we all move on . |

uhm let me do the math on this one... The inner ring (the part really needing replace ment the most, correct?) is only $80. The whole brand new synchro assembly is $224 from Howard and takes 4-5 weeks to come in. *sniff sniff* I smell a deal. If you had to make like a 1000 of these then that means that you must have a pretty good stockpile left no? Are they available for the 6 speed?
Commenting on your other parts (forgive the hijack) Those all sound like excelent ideas for parts. I'm sure there will be enough demand for them in the very near future if there isn't already. Anyone have troubles getting on to gatecrasher's website recently? I can't even get a hold of him to find out if his syncros worked out or not. |

Once your current stock runs out do you plan on making a better than new OEM version?

Where did you get $80 from for the inner ring? When CRS had them in stock they were about $25 each if I remember correctly. Getting through Howard (AKA Mitsu) is deffinately a higher cost and it takes longer to get them in but at this time is our only option. Don't get me wrong, a set of synchros for any other car will cost about that much too (the triple set for the Supras is also about that price through the dealer) but it's going to be pretty hard to beat CRS prices for the most part.
I have bought a lot of parts through CRS (including synchros) and they work just fine. They get them through Getrag, the OEM manufacturer. Good luck getting on Gate's web site.....

It's item C47 on the drawing, CRS part number 0408004805 Since I am posting, I will also thank Kormex again, for getting the parts that CRS did not have: bearings and the output shaft. Too bad I toasted the engine less than a week after getting the transmission rebuilt! (See "Installing 1997 VR4 Engine into 1992 TT" thread in AWD section. Mike ![]() |

All of Jeff's information was aquired doing countless hours of reaserch on CAPS as well as speaking personally to many many individuals. Most of the pictures and info you can get your selves by looking in the Japanese version of CAPS.

I called CRS for a 1-2 shift fork just now, for my 446 6-spd, I got his voice mail. My tranny shop called Kormex first but they are temporarily out of them.
