If I get no answer i will have to check my stock arrangement and guestimate which sucks nuts, it will also take a lot of time when I know someone has to have some literature on this. Its for the Getrag 6. Maybe CRS has it?

Thanks to anyone who can answer this,

I'm pretty sure that Frank Martin at Kormex knows this, he knew what mine (5-speed) was supposed to be

I know he is a busy man, but I pm'd him to no response.. it was read.

Not sure what other route to take but to use my own logic and skillz. Or else maybe I could read up on some of the tranny guides we do have info on to see if there is any relative consistency amongst specs the for the pinions... what was your 5 speed by the way that would be a good starting point?

So does this mean the parts are hard to get or just hard to source yourself? Could I still find like 4-5 places in my area that could rebuild the AWD Trans? [NC]

All of the above. If you are patient, you should be able to get what you need. Ask your local transmission shops. Anyone of them experienced with the AWD Eclipse, Talon, and Laser will have no trouble with a TT trans.

Is it hard to have the synchros and blocking rings duplicated for the two trannies? Is that something that we should maybe try to get going if these things are no longer going to be available after a time? Can they be CNCd, or are they a cast piece? Is the brass scintering step the reason it hasn't been done yet?

I updated the first post a while back. We have parts.

The reason? CRS is not a parts supplier but a remanufacturing company under contract with Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi asked them to sell us parts so we wouldn't have to buy a new $6K transaxle. (Not a financial option for a lot of us.) CRS has been a wonderful help (as well as Kormex) but unfortunately they can only do so much for us. They don't have any plans on ordering more parts to keep in stock because they rebuild so very little of them. (Mitsubishi gets very few orders for "new" transaxles.)

Six thousand dollars will total most cars out there. If not then it leaves the owner no choice but to part out the car. When this happens Mitsubishi and Getrag do not make any money. If they offered parts Getrag could make money off of selling parts to us and the dealership and Mitsubishi could make money off of parts mark up and labor. But if we have to part out or total our car and get a new one neither Mitsubishi or Getrag make money.

Their is money to be made here guys. Where there is money to be made there is an oppertunity for us to get a parts supplier. Any body have any ideas? Can any one in MI get me the number for Getrag's office? Any one know who I have to call on the Mitsubishi side to get the ball rolling?

Update:

For whole transaxle/TC assemblies contact Kormex. Kormex usually has the best prices for larger parts like gears, shafts, and housings. Their output shaft and input spools are new but every thing is used. (Used non-wear parts like shafts, gears, and housings are perfectly fine.)

For smaller parts like seals, bearing, and synchro, contact CRS. Gloria no longer works at CRS. Get up with either Bill or John. They charge COD only. They sell brand new OEM parts. If you can't find that big part at Kormex CRS probably has it. At this time they do not have any inner blocker rings for 1/2 gears. They need to order in bulk at about 30 at a time. Their current need is about 10. They may be able to sell you some used inner blocker rings. However, as with any used wear item like a synchro, buy at your own risk all sales on used inner blocker rings final. CRS is also much much cheaper to buy seals from than the dealership. About $5 each at CRS compaired to about $25 each at the dealership.

For ANY brand new transaxle/TC parts you can also contact our newest parts supplier Mentor Mitsu right here on 3Si. 1-877-44-MITSU ask for Howard. Howard works at a Mitsu dealer in Mentor Ohio. He has a nice system worked out were he can order ANY part through Mitsu Japan. The catch is that we have to wait as long as 6 weeks for shipping from Japan. The prices also seem to vary as often as CRS's prices vary. Which is almost on a weekly basis. The prices do seem to be comperable to CRS prices which is good. To order the inner blocker ring through Howard you will have to buy the entire three piece 1/2 synchro set. (You will probably want to do this any way if you are putting in new synchros.) Last I heard the price per set was around $200. This price will change frequently but is a reasonable price for ALL THREE RINGS.

Don't forget about your fellow 3/S members out there who may be parting out a tranny/TC. It is a good way to get used parts (but still perfectly good parts) even cheaper.

If you have an 18 spline output shaft it would be a good idea to upgrade to a 300m 18 spline shaft or convert to a 25 spline. The 300m output shaft and TC input spool (available in both 25 and 18 spline) are available through Mark Williams manufacturing. Sorry but I do not know the contact info at this time.

We did it 3 years ago , made the 1st and 2nd blocking rings started selling them for $125.00 each . Alot of the guys were greatfull and we sold quite a few but not all , then Bob Fontana started making contact with Mitsubishi USA ,Getrag and made great progress making parts available through CRS .
Things turned for us we were now a "rip-off".
We still sell them but not enough to justify making more , we now get more toll free calls like this : "Whats the number to CRS ?"

We have now lowered the price to $80.00 each on the blocking rings and probably will not make any more runs on them . Other projects that have been put off at this time are :

CAst Iron shift forks for the 6spd - this was suggested by Eric (99Missle) what ever happened to him ? Havent heard from him since 9/11/2001 and he called me often before that.

A thicker inner ring - this is going to be needed for the 6spds

A solid dummy ctr Diff- this will be needed as a replacement for the CTR DIFF unit, as VCU's get scarce and there is a big weight reward for doing this.

Basically nothing gets developed if there is no reward at the end of the road.

Wasn't your ring a higer quality than the CRS OEM ring?

I recall that being the justification of the higher price.
