CRS is a reman facility that is not set up for mass sales to the public. I will say that they make mistakes. But they have always pulled through for me in the end. I have worked with them a few times to sort a few of the errors out and to prevent them from happening again. The people at CRS will go out of their way for you if you are in a bind. But even they have their limits. It shoudl also be noted that shipping errors may occur. (The shipping companies error not CRS's.) This also happened to one of my orders but CRS sent it over night as soon as they found out at no cost to me. If you believe an error has occured in you order with CRS just calmly work with them and they will take care of you. Their services continue to get better as time passes.
Mentor Mitsu - It is deffinately a different car. While throttle steer is fun I do miss my AWD and 13s time slips. Hopefully I'll be able to find a weak link in the drive train some time. Keep sending any tech questions my way. I'm always glad to help out another member as best I can.

Okay I've read thru this entire thread, there's a lot of information, I'm trying to summarize it for my own use. I've typed out what I think is a decent summary of stuff available for 5-speed. Could anyone knowledgable take a look, and let me know if I've missed anything useful, and what I'm wrong about? I'm sure this could be useful for other people like me so they don't have to spend 2 hours reading to figure out all this info. The only thing I really couldn't find was a parts reference between MR & CRS part #s on the exploded views.

Thanks for the condensed version of your search! I’ve been accumulating similar information, was missing a couple of those things.
Having said all that, my transmission (’92 RT/TT) sits on the “waiting for parts” shelf right now. After 160,000 miles, all it really needs is a new 18-spline output shaft and the 2nd gear synchro rings. Everything else looks pretty good. While apart, we’ll replace all the bearings and synchro rings, along with the 3 seals. In 1992, there was a transition from the 18-spline to the 25-spline output shaft. That part is easy. It also appears that there are different 18-spline shafts AND different synchros – and I don’t see the distinction on any of the parts lists. Am I wrong on the above? Should I call Kormex and let them help me get the right parts, or will CRS know what I need? Mike mike21b@dejazzd.com |

OK. I just read through all 17 pages (20 posts/page) of this thread. Lots of good info! I see I need to update my web pages. After finishing the second to last page, I was just about to ask if someone had summarized and condensed the info. Thanks Enigma9o7! I'll try to find time to make a web page with this info and tons of credits to the posters here.
I wanted to add that the 1-2 synchro assembly really is the same between 5-spd and 6-spd. I saw the same part numbers in an early post. Jim Matthews and I have been comparing his 6-speed synchro assemblies and my 5-spd synchro assemblies and they both look identical (from pictures, not in hand) and have the same numbers stamped into them. Gatecrasher, Any chance you would put together an XLS file for the 5-spd like you did for the 6-spd? If not, I might be able to make one for the 5-spd. I have the Japan CAPS disk somewhere (I think thanks to Oleg for that!) and the CRS diagrams. My to-do list is huge right now so it may be a while.

I (personally) do not recommend removeing the output shaft with the tranny in the car. The potential to damage the end cover and chip teeth off of fifth gear are too great. If any one wants to go ahead and do it that way that is fine. Just so long as you know the risk.
I also do not recommend useing a jaw type puller for removeing gears off the shafts. They have been know to chip the teeth off of gears. Again, use this method at your own risk. Gloria Lind no longer works with CRS. Please contact John Davis or Bill at CRS for all your needs. With the aid from Mentor Mitsu there should be no need to contact Oleg Reznik for parts. He is a busy guy anyway. Be we all greatly appreciate his effort. Thank again Oleg. The O/S, left axle, and right axle, input shaft cap seals can be purchased through CRS for about $25 TOTAL. I'll edit the first post of this thread later to let every one know about the situation with ALL of our parts suppliers both new and old. |

There are two different output shaft seals since the 25 and 18 spline has different diameters. MR110306 seems to be for the 25spline and as far as I can see, CAPS gives the same part number for -91 and -95 which obviously can't be right. Does anyone know the partnumber for the 18 spline seal?
