Call up Frank at kormex and see if you can't just put a new 25 spline spool in it. I have been meaning to find out if that was possible.

Frank told me that if there is a fill bolt in the TC cover that has "GETRAG" engraved on it then the TC is the later style with the bigger bearings and the 18 spline spool can be swapped with the 25 spline spool (requires a press, of course).

ok, my apologies in advance. i read the first 18 pages of this thread, then i had a seizure from staring at the screen too long.

my question: is there a source for parts yet? if i just need a complete blocking ring set and bearings, can i get that? or just some rings and not others? are the parts interchangable with any other trannies?

I'm still waiting on the first syncro ring from Mentor Mitsubishi. Howard said it could be as long as 3 or 4 weeks, and I think it's only been about 2 so far. Things are looking good as of right now though.

i spoke with a mechanic buddy of mine who specializes in european cars (mostly alfa romeos), and i mentioned the lack of parts for our trannies. he said a good friend of his constantly imports parts from germany that are hard to find here in the states for his business.

i told him we needed hard parts for getrag 440/446, he wrote it down and said he'll see if he can't find something. we'll see if it pans out at all, and i'll post back. he's very reliable, so i'll hear back one way or the other.

Good to hear. The more options we have, the better.

I received an update from Howard at Mentor last night. My ring should be at the depot around 5/24, and I'll have it in hand a day or two after that. These things have long lead times, but it's really looking good right now.

I will also have an Input Shaft Bearing if anyone needs one.
This was a test order but all should be ok as far as the parts being correct is concerned (pricing still sucks sometimes though-as posted before)
Mitsubishi Corporate Parts shows zero supercessions on the parts that I've inquired about and that was sending it through Japan.

Some prices are higher and some are lower than CRS (I don't know why)
I have not created a catalog yet for Getrag parts so if anyone needs something email me & I'll check availability.

Thanks,
Howard

Jeff... If you get your parts in time for next weekend(& you should) while you are fixing your problems I'll be preventing mine.

Just received: D&D Steel Shift Fork(2nd to 3rd), syncro & bearings kit,new design slave/release bearing,McCleoud adjustable Master Cylinder,ARP Fasteners,
Fidanza 1050 billet steel flywheel & SPEC Stage 3 Clutch package and the notorious Drill mod.
Bring your car we can tag team them on my lift-(LOL)

maddog - The 1/2 synchros for the 5 and 6 speeds are interchangeable.

doctorstupid - Most parts are avalable through CRS and Kormex but not all. The inner blocker ring for 1/2 is still not available however.

Input shaft bearings (last I checked) are still available through CRS.
