Gatecrasher - No problem. You guys seemed as though you both were headed that way any way.

Robert Duncan - It's not the tranny as a whole that gives us problems, it is certain individual parts. Even then there are other parts that will wear out regaurdless or cryo teatment or what ever. To date no one has ever broken a gear. The only shaft we have broken is the 18 spline output shaft. That is sovled by buying a 300m 18 spline shaft. The 25 spline shafts may strip if there is a build up or rust or corrosion. You can prevent this by applying some greese to the splines. If you want to know anything else about common failures or drive train weaknesses feel free to send me an e-mail.

davidX - Komrex sell a NON-OEM middle (AKA friction ring) synchro ring for 1/2. The issue is that CRS will not offer any more of the inner blocker rings for 1/2. These rings have been known to break. As is the case for my transaxle and one other customer of mine.

Every one should note: At some point we WILL need more than just synchros. We will need internal componants to the TCs and other random gears, shafts, houseings what ever. CRS informed me that they will stop makeing several other parts for these transaxles not just the inner blocker ring for 1/2. We have one other member who needs a pinion shaft for his six speed. Neither CRS or Kormex have one and it doesn't look like one will show up soon. I need a 1/2 shift fork for my six speed. Any one got a spare? I'd be surprised if you did. My point is this. We really need a PARTS supplier not a SYNCHRO supplier. We shouldn't forget that...

Well whatever happened to buying parts from getrag, my offer still stands to buy in bulk from them, if they will sell to me..

Ok friends, I've finally uploaded the 6-speed cross reference.

I cannot promise that it is perfect! If you find an error, please tell me.

I'll get a proper web page up soon, but I didn't want to leave everyone hanging until then.

946K. BIG SOB I have no idea how to print this on any normal printer I'll play with the orientations and see if I can't make it look better.

I also included the charts at ths bottom as an Excel spreadsheet. This way you can add prices or notes for yourself, and use Excel's search to find a PN instead of trying to eyeball it on the graphical list.

http://xtreme3s.net/images/getrash/6...0reference.xls

I'll start work on the 5 speed soon.

I'll go one better. Here's a downsized version of the chart edited and cleaned up by Mike Meskill (krusaderx) It's black and white and 600k. The actual image size is still the same.

why is it that these syncros go out so often in the first place?, is it a materials problem or engineering? my first and second fell like they will be going out soon. did the 6 speed have the same problems?

They are made of bronze metal, which I believe is a pretty soft metal, which is why they wear out so quickly.
