Sorry...I wasn't actually taking it personal just trying to be up front. I had already thought of the monopoly situation as well. MS being the best known example-though in Gates & Co. defense they generally aren't to bad in price and they work pretty well-usually I received a short email from my contact and he gave me my price on 2 of the syncro parts. I have a copy of the 5 speed price list from CRS that Iceeagle sent me and I wish there part #s and mine were easier to match up. But I think I've got it. The first one sounds great: MR166920 (caps pnc#22559) CRS#C74-(I think) CRS price $68.00 my cost is $48.32 with a 20% GP mark-up your price would be $60.40. The second I believe must be a typo-(I hope) MR166742 (caps pnc#22545a) CRS#C45-(again I think) CRS price $70.09 my cost $179.60. I'm guessing that somone got happy fingers and its a typo. I just can't believe the 1 in there. Probably means 79.60 & just hit a key wrong. He asked that we get a complete list of everything that might be wanted & then I'll fax it to him. He is out of the office all of this week so there is time. When he returns he will check availability & provide prices. It would be nice if all the parts go like the reverse syncro ring price wise but I don't know if that will be the case or not. Thanks, Howard |

The last post was getting long and I wanted the next part to stand out.
We have an unusual situation here.( Since everyone from parts and service where I work looked at me like I was nuts when I told them about people actually getting the parts & rebuilding Getrags.-read Deer in Headlights) Not a one of us has actually seen the insides of one. With a $1000.00 core deposit (if I remember correctly) none of us has wanted to open 1 up & take a peek. This makes you the customer the experts since you have been working on them and know the common items needed for a best & worst case rebuild or repair. Also I only have the 5 speed list and I'll need a copy of CRS's 6 speed parts guide. Bottom line is we need a list and I think it should be a dream or wishlist to cover any future possible break downs. I you all will make one I will double check it for accuracy (just like I try to do for all my actual orders.) and get things going. FWIW- Since I started the online store I've had 0 parts returned due to an error in looking them up or supercession problems. Thanks, Howard |

First I got your email and haven't had a chance to respond and thanks I will as soon as I can. As to supercessions all of the parts on your list appear to be 3000gt and are still valid #s. I can order 1 set or 100 of the 4 #s that were checked. First we need a list to check all prices- if they suck I'll try another route. I was told by my contact that the license agreement between Mitsubishi,Getrag, & CRS is exclusive and rather unusual. So I don't know about going direct to Getrag but maybe if I contact CRS and offer to be the middle man they might go for it. CRS is a rebuilder and not geared up for parts distribution to individuals. If I was to guess that may be why they are trying to get away from it. When I was told about the 3 party agreement no mention was made about CRS stopping there rebuilding of the 3K Getrag Trans. BTW-Has anyone asked if CRS can do a performance build on these( or any other shop for that matter) DD Performance comes to mind though they appear to be domestic http://www.ddperformance.com Well its Sunday, the sun is shining, skies blue, and the t-tops are still on my TA that I just got back on the road yesterday. Not to mention I'm so starved that I could eat a horse. MMM...Mustang does an F-Body good. First I hunt then I feed. Keep me posted I'll check back later. Thanks, Howard PS- I actually like Stangs I have to its all my Dad and brothers and sister drive and race. He went from a 427 Corvair Funny Car to a 85 pro street mustang...Oh how the mighty have fallen |

I don't know if this will help, but I have diagrams I captured out of CAPS showing all the internal parts with PNC numbers
5 spd: http://xtreme3s.net/images/getrash/5%20spd/ 6 spd: http://xtreme3s.net/images/getrash/6%20spd/ I've been meaning to do a huge cross-reference diagram showing the PNC codes, Mitsu numbers, and CRS part numbers. This is just more motivation to get it finished. I am going to do the entire transaxle for both models. What I need is the CRS part listing. The only one I have is a 5-spd diagram that came out of a fax machine and it looks like crap. If anyone can send me those lists, it would be greatly appreciated.

Mentor Mitsu: So let me get this straight, you can get any 3S transmission part at anytime? If so I got plenty of business for you right now. $$$$$$$, LOL. I was under the impression that there was 3 places to get these parts...CRS, Kormex, and Mitsubishi... but ultimately everything comes from CRS.

Thanks & yes it helps I had the 5 speed but needed the 6 speed to even have a chance. Otherwise I would be running blind. Any help you give would not only be appreciated but also allow me to rest easier from a doublecheck stand point as you obviously know cars. I have a really good copy of the 5 speed platform from CRS that Iceeagle sent me(email me if you would like a copy). He also says that he has the 6 speed but needs to find it so that might be a good place to start. Speaking of which Iceeagle hasn't posted lately. Ice...Ice...wherefore art thou? Leave the babes alone its time to wrench- (to date my best customer). Very together and great to work with. Thanks, Howard |

( Please be a typo-as I can't stand back & let anyone sell ther VR4 for an 03 Cobra-LOL).Quote: If so I got plenty of business for you right now. $$$$$$$, LOL. F- the dollars-they will come in time. I'm not going to sacrifice long term profitability for short term gain. I find it interesting that I now have you where I've been sitting with my car. 1998 Trans Am -LS1 Black T-56 6 speed (order request no TCS). T-top seals almost $80.00(stealership) where they meet the door window.Thats about an 18" strip of rubber! Good oil change 6qts of Mobil One & KN Oil Filter $40.00. The list goes on & on. I can now show "them" ( I'm being polite sub your favorite expletive) how it should be done.A fair price and still get assistance. CRS I think may just be overwhelmed since they build Trannies and are not a parts supplier. Kormex...from a previous post sounds like he feels unfairly (I don't know nothin never heard of them before so remember I'm a newbie) treated and not inclined to show you some love. Mitsubishi Dealers-The parts show as there "inelegible for order" because as previous posts mentioned Mitsu considers the Getrag to special. Only external parts are available direct. Thanks, Howard I hope the weather was as perfect for all of you as it was for me & that you got to go out and enjoy your cars as much as I did. For me SAD is officially over- ![]() Last edited by Mentor Mitsu : 04-18-2004 at 08:04 PM. |

Slow VR4 even if your car really is slow judging by your icon you are still doing better than me...LOL. That part # would be MR166730 (it appears to me-would some one like Gatecrasher, Iceeagle, Robbeck or Brett check me on this) as I'm not perfect. It shows as "ineligible for ordering" through normal channels though it seems to be the same for all 5 & 6 speeds-(using my extranet link). Just 1 more to add to the list for P&A as I mentioned. If this item is a known problem please follow the following links: http://www.swaintech.com/ And http://www.onecryo.com/motorsp.htm to make them last Thanks, Howard |
