$47? I'd order those without even blinking

I'd expect the triple-cone 1st and 2nd gear rings to cost a bit more though.

Hey, at $50 bucks a gear, I would get a whole set just to hold on to just in case.

Yea I agree. If they were $80.00 i'd still buy them. I would really hate to start seeing people complain about price when and if these parts are widely available. Think of the type of car you bought.....most things are already pretty cheap...but sometimes parts are going to be more expensive then anticipated.

Hell yes! I don't even need any tranny parts right now..but if i can buy a whole set, you better believe I am going to have my debit card in hand. I plan on owning this car for a very long time.

Its not $47 per GEAR. It is $47 for a 4th gear Synchro ring. I believe the 3rd gear synchro is the same. And Yes the 1st and 2nd are most likely MUCH more if they are even available. Considering the POS tranny we have, I guess the price isnt bad... but I have never rebuilt a trans before that a ring cost that much... they are generally around $5-$20, from my experience. All in all, I will take it... more than happy to pay for it now... all things considered.

But for the rest of ya sue me for wishing we had a normal trans

When I bought these parts in March they only cost as follows:
1/2 outer 31.12 each
1/2 synchro 15.03 each
3/4 syncro 22.95 each
5th syncro 65.40
rev sycro 68.00
Total for all: $271.60 + shipping

I don't think that's a bad deal. Looks like the price went up for your 4th gear. Plus since we have very limited sources I'd pay much more to have a useable tranny if I had too.

**Edit: It wasn't in stock at the time but for reference: 1/2 ring inner 23.92 each.

Thanks Theo.

I want access to parts dont get me wrong, but we need to make sure we dont get price gouged at the same time. When we find a provider, saying you are willing to pay anything isnt too smart IMO. Theos quotes below seem MUCH more appropriate, and note over a 100% increase in 1 month for the part I ordered SOOOO

I believe Howard when he says he's not out to take advantage of us. Quite honestly, if I'm faced with a choice between a high price, and noparts at all, I'll pay the high price (within reason)

I never wanted to own an AWD 3S before the internal trans parts were available. CRS opened up to us, so I finally bought one. Now that I need the parts, CRS seems to be drying up. I'm not ready to get rid of my car over a couple of brass rings, so I'll pay any sane price that is asked of me.

This isn't a Tremec T56 with hundreds of thousands of units in circulation. There are barely 20,000 of these transaxles in existance. You have to expect prices to be a bit higher.

For the record, the F5M33 in the FWD cars, a trans that is shared over several other Mitsu models and has many more units in service than we do, has similar syncro pricing to what we've seen here. I paid just over $300 for a set of rings back when I built mine.

Let's just wait and see if we can even get the right parts before we start worrying about pricing.

That brings me to a question for Howard. What do we do if there's an error in the part numbers? Say they've been superceeded without our knowledge? I'd hate to see people drop $500 on syncro rings, only to find out the part numbers had been reassigned to something for say, an 04 Eclipse. Is it possible to get just one set of each to verify that these are indeed the right parts before we start doing mass orders?

Sounds like we are on the same page....

Rob

EDIT: FYI.. When I did an F5M22 DSM FWD trans, I spent about $400 total. That was every bearing, race, shim, synchro, 1st gear, and a 2nd gear.... damn near the whole trans. I dont expect our trans to be that amount by any stretch of the imagination, and I will have to endure whatever pricing is put up... if it is too rich for my blood though I will sell the car and buy an 03 Cobra.
