Default Found this for DSM, is this true for 3/S?

Read #7 here
DSM Clutch Selection

and clutch adjustment section here for 1G
RRE's Clutch And Flywheel Tech Info

They both talk about pedal assembly on 1G DSM and how too much free play affects clutch engagement. It appears to me that 1G DSM setup is similar to 3/S set up. So, I would think we might be prone to the same problem. Am I right?

Thanks

yes, almost exactly the same. Adjustment is crucial to clutch and transmission performance.

Does this mean that if I have a lot of free play in my clutch I have to replace clutch pedal assembly?

No, you just need to adjust it.

On my Spec clutch I found that with the stock pedal height, and the stock specs for the clutch stroke were actually too much. When the pedal was set up to the stock specs I was grinding (even while idling and putting the car into first gear). I tried to extend the clutch throw, but that made it worse. I found that by decreasing the clutch stroke the trans does shift much better now.

I believe the stock stroke is anything above 160 mm is good. I did not measure my clutch stroke, but I know it is less than that.

I do have a good bit of freeplay, but I'm not worried about that- I'd rather have no grinding than pedal freeplay.

which SPEC clutch do you have? I am have very similar problem now. So you actually decreased pedal stroke, right? Does it engage close to the floor now?
